We’re not long back from Marrakech, which we loved (highly recommend going, if you get the chance!), and wanted to relive it, in the grey reality of Glasgow. Put a search in google for Morrocan food in Glasgow and The Finnieston Fez came back. Had a peak at the menu and photos and decided to pay it a visit.

As it was a Sunday, parking close by was a doddle (and free). When we went in, we were transported back to Morocco in an instant both by the decor and the ambience. Instantly welcomed by Ayoub, who along with his partner Dounia owns and runs the Finnieston Fez, we felt very much at home. Clearly the warm hospitality we encountered in Morocco travels with their wonderful people.

The food is fantastic with a great selection of lite meals to choose from. I had the Mseman, which is a thin and lite flat bread, served with Harissa and Zaatar. It was nice and spicy and full of flavour. Very enjoyable. Also had their Moroccan Pancakes with Chocolate and Pistachio - absolutely delicious. Finished it all off with a pot of authentic Royal Tea which really brought Morocco back to us, in spirit at least.

The service was very friendly The guys have clearly worked hard in building up their business and it’s appeal is very apartment. All the customers were very clearly enjoying themselves and the food. The vibe was really cool, informal and very pleasant and homely. Had a great chat with Ayoub about all things Moroccan yet he seemed to have time for every one in the place and made everyone feel equally at home.

I really enjoyed visiting The Finniston Fez and will definitely be going back as often as I can. It was absolutely everything I was hoping for and can’t recommend it enough. Treat yourself to...

We visited this place with high expectations after reading the glowing reviews. After traveling all the way from Oban, we were really looking forward to lunch here but unfortunately, it was a huge let down, to put it politely.

We ordered the Tuna Harissa and the Falafel Hummus & Brie, both of which were bland and tasteless, far from the quality we expected. The "panini" turned out to be a basic part-baked baguette (the kind you’d pick up at Lidl!), which was disappointing.

For the price charged, the food was extremely overrated and lacked authenticity a complete waste of money. We have no problem paying premium prices for quality food made with good ingredients, but this was neither. After spending £18.48, we felt stuck eating what we’d ordered, though in hindsight, we should have just walked out.

To make matters worse, the bathroom had no hand soap in the dispenser. When we mentioned it to a staff member, she admitted they "usually have a bottle lying around" but couldn’t find any—and they didn’t even have hand sanitizer as a backup. We had to escalate the issue to the owner before it was resolved.

Overall, a frustrating experience that fell far short of expectations. The only silver lining was stopping at Burnfield Bakery afterward for their excellent coffee and carrot cake, definitely compensated for our terrible experience before heading...

I recently had the pleasure of dining at an exquisite Moroccan cafe, and I can confidently say it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, I was captivated by the warm and inviting ambience that truly transports you to Morocco.

I started with their Moroccan tea, which was perfectly brewed and infused with fragrant spices. It set the tone for what was to come. The Turkish coffee was rich and robust, while the Moroccan Bazar coffee offered a delightful twist that I absolutely loved.

For a savory treat, I indulged in the minced meat with eggs tajine, which was a flavor explosion in every bite. The pistachio flatbread was a delightful accompaniment, and the pistachio delights were the perfect sweet ending to my meal.

What truly stood out was the incredible value for the quality of food and service. The prices were very reasonable, especially considering the superb quality of each dish. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who made sure I had everything I needed throughout my visit. The owner was particularly friendly and helpful .

If you're looking for an authentic taste of Morocco combined with a welcoming atmosphere, this cafe is a must-visit. I can’t...

Visiting Finnieston Fez is a mix of feeling like you are on holiday, as you step out of the grey drizzle of Glasgow into the vibrant warmth of Morocco with a warm welcome as a respected guest into their home. Not only is the food and drink tasty, the customer care is exactly what you want to be reminded of all that is good in the world. Happy, positive and genuine. It was obvious that I am far from alone in this opinion as others that dropped by while I was there also commented on the fact they were returning for this very reason - good food and that positive sense of being taken care of. I had coffee to start flavoured with Moroccan spices, followed by Tuna melt with harissa, and finished with Mint and Orange blossom tea - served with a delicious chocolate baklava. I also noticed that there were lots of vegan options, which was one of the reasons my daughter found this place during her visit to Glasgow during COP26 and encouraged me to eat here when I was visiting Glasgow for a conference. SO glad I made the half hour walk across town from my hotel!

I've walked all over Glasgow today, got up to 25K step count in total by the end and I was tired. I'd didn't fancied any of the cafes on my walk but I did a double take when I saw this cafe amongst the cafes and pubs along Argyle Street. It was so bright, the decor is so quirky and fun. A coffee shop or cafe is so common and so many now and I haven't had Morrocan tea before. That's how I came to visit this establishment. I had a berber wedding tea, my friend had the baklava latte. The tea was refreshing with the minty taste with clove and cinnamon notes. The latte my friend had, he ate it with the spoon. It looked more like a dessert, it looked fabulous. I needed the rest stop, I was aiming for 30K step today.

Having Moroccan food for the first time and I am not disappointed. It was a great experience. I have been here more than 3 times and each time this place has given me a great experience. Their hot chocolates are excellent. I have had Choco nut hot chocolate, mint hot chocolate and also bubble gum white hot chocolate. The cream they put on top of the hot chocolate is also amazing and of really good quality. Although you cannot have a continuous go on the hot chocolate coz it's a little too sweet. You could ask the staff to make it a little less sweet if u would not have something so sweet. I even had brunch for 2 which is for 35£ and I am happy with what I got. Everything seemed so authentic.
