Its like Benidorm...in Glasgow! I had really high hopes for the Radisson Red, and having stayed at the other big two hotels beside the hydro a few times (Crowne Plaza and Hilton) we decided to finally give it a whirl. Pros: Hotel looks lovely. Dinner was great - we had the vouchers for pizza and drink, was given the choice of one specific beer or one off-menu cocktail which seemed suspicious but was still nice. Cold breakfast was fine - cant go wrong with some juice and fruits if all else fails. Bed was comfy and the room has really good air conditioning which is simple to use. Location to hydro - probably about 1.5 minutes walk Cons: 1.As soon as you actually look at anything in the rooms you find something off about it. I.e. orange food stains on the bedside table, hairs on the bathroom floor, cracks everywhere, suspicious floor stains and stains up the toilet seat 🤢. Gave more 3* hotel room at a push...and that's the "Superior" room. The staff have NOTHING on the other two hotels. Most have a give no f** attitude and barely have a conversation with you. Not even a good morning when you approach for breakfast, just a sorry for the wait (we were the only ones waiting but still had to wait for someone to notice us and seat us). Breakfast isn't worth it and again the worst of the three hotels. If you can mash 90% of whats on your plate...it's probably not a good sign. Food wasn't rotated frequently and the choice was basic. The noise at night... we were on floor 7 and you can absolutely hear the skybar and feel the vibrations of the bass two floors below. I would HATE to have to stay on floor 8 or have to use this hotel for business as you dont get a decent sleep if you're up high. Paying for parking. This ones a given and should absolutely not exist as a hotel guest. Free parking at Crowne Plaza and Hilton. £12 for parking at the Radisson Red. Now here's where the deal breaker came for me and my partner... As you know thousands and thousands of people flock to Glasgow monthly for all kinds of events. It seems the Radisson doesn't like certain types of people and made us very uncomfortable. As we returned from the PlayStation Concert, we thought we'd check out the Skybar which was absolutely packed with people who'd had far too much to drink (surely theres a duty of care there but that's on management to deal with) We were told the only seats available were a two seater beside another couple who'd agreed we could join them. When we sat down the first thing they said was that thank God we're not from that geeky convention and that were not sweaty geeks or to that effect. When I replied that we were from that event the woman slapped her hand on her mouth and was like "omg im sorry, the staff said she'd find us someone normal not gamers and I didnt meant to offend you". The staff woman from the bar came over again and both started laughing about how they didnt realise we were from that convention and how they wanted to sit someone normal at the seats not geeky boys etc and kept apologising as we didnt fit their assumptions of the people they thought were attending. Its clear that the Radisson doesnt value the Millions and Millions! (That's a wrestling quote...you won't get it because were just massive geeks) of fans who turn up yearly to enjoy the things they love and are entitled to love at the Hydro, be it Gaming, Anime or Wrestling. The staff have no respect for guests who are a bit geeky or different and I'd genuinely encourage them to stay at one of the other hotels cause Ive been to many wrestling events and have never once heard the staff or other guests talk such sh** openly whilst the guests of that event have been sat there. I also observed similar trends at dinner where magically if you had a gamer hoodie on, or looked like a gamer there was no room at the OUIbar (it was dead) and people were sent away. I have no idea if there was a genuine reason for this but on observation it looked to be solely based on clientele appearance. Ive been made to feel so...
Read morePositives first shall we? Reception staff were professional and polite. Check in was quick and easy. The rooms was basic but clean enough with crisp fresh spotless linen. There was shampoo body wash and enough clean fresh towels. The crane outside is also a mosaic feature in the bathroom which was fun. Loved the rain drop shower. That was the star of the room. View was decent, river, crane big fancy building that was lit up green on the nighttime was pretty cool. Hotels car park and building getting work done were a bit scummy looking but that can't be helped with it being a building zone. Breakfast staff were lovely, especially the young guy who brought our requested foods. The made to order breakfasts were spot on. Husband ordered 2 fried eggs which in my opinion were perfect. Gorgeous runny yolks and a slight crisp bottom to the white. My portobello eggs (although not portobello mushrooms but instead sliced button mushrooms) were on point. Perfect texture to the white not snotty and the yorlks were perfectly runny. Mushrooms with that were cooked perfectly too. Both breakfasts to order were fresh and hot. Hotels look and theme were fun. Posters from gigs, movie and tv with the word "red" in their titles were featured in the hotels elevators. The building is red but colour shifts to pink copper and gold in the light. Not the not so great stuff. For a 4 star hotel it wasn't in the most pleasant of locations. For us it was convenient since the band we came 3 hours away from to see we only a 20 minute walk away. Lots of rubbish about and just felt dirty outside. Maybe thatl improve once building work is finished? I hope... The room above us had a shower at midnight and it was VERY loud. It sounded like the pipes were going to explode. It freaked me out. The conditioner dispenser was empty which was a shame. Black mold in the grout in the shower. Not lots but it was there. No decaf tea. Only 2 sugars, one coffee but 2 decaf coffees? The tea/coffee game was totally lacking and disappointing. Ordering food. Now on the pizza menu it says open 5pm - 10pm which to me reads as you can order up until 10pm. We left the band we were seeing a bit early to get back to our room and order pizza (coz they sounded frickin delicious) we tried to put an order in asap at 9.40 but there was no answer so we asked reception. Apparently they stop taking orders at 9.15. We then asked if the restaurant was open at it says on google maps it is until midnight. Nope that closed at 9.30pm This needs updated as it was not clear at all which meant we had no option to eat in the comfort of the place we were staying. If last orders for pizza are at 9.15pm then state that on the menu or you will get people ringing later and being disappointed and upset. The buffet breakfast wasnt hot and more sort of tepid and cold by the time we sat down. We were there for the quiet time sitting so you'd expect the food to be fresh and hot but it wasn't. The button mushrooms looked raw but were cooked. Maybe lack of seasoning? They were also dirty, like they had just been chucked in to cook and not cleaned at all. (There was dirt and grit still on them could see it and feel it) The scrambled eggs were very watery and grey looking. Looked a bit sus. I tried them but did not finish them. They disintegrated on my plate. Husband had the sausages and said they were like standard catering sausages, nothing special. Also, this is a bit nitpicky but were in Scotland why no lorne sausage? :( you had haggis! Strong smell of weed on our floor in the morning. Who the hell is lighting up at 7am? Have some restraint! Parking was a bit annoying as we were not told there was an extra £12 charge for overnight parking which we had to pay upon checkout which we were only told about upon checkout. A warning on the website or at checkin would have been nice rather than a sneak up when leaving. Overall not a 4 star standard. Not that it matters but this was our first night away together in 9 years. We never get "us time" so it's such a shame all the little...

We are Radisson premium members and had high expectations when booking Radisson RED Glasgow for a very special event at the SEC, Ovo Hydro, and Armadillo between 25th–27th July, which brought in over 12,000 attendees. Sadly, not only did the hotel fall short of expectations—it became one of the worst hotel experiences we've ever had, and we weren't alone. Dozens of fellow guests shared similar frustrations.
Despite the hotel knowing months, more than any year, in advance about the scale and importance of this event, they inexplicably chose to host rooftop parties on the 9th Floor, starting Friday night, pounding music and bass through the entire building. The noise was unbearable—vibrations could be felt through our bed pillows on the 2nd floor. It continued until midnight, even though half the hotel guests were up for breakfast at 6:30am to attend the event.
When I phoned the night manager to ask why a rooftop party had been approved during such a critical weekend, I was told it was a mistake in the events management. That was Friday. Unfortunately, it happened again Saturday until 11pm, and even louder on Sunday night. Three consecutive nights of disrupted rest. There was no resolve offered other than a refund for a bad night's sleep. Money does not fix these problems. Customers paid £180 (as an event discount) for comfort and service, we recieved none of this.
I even suggested to the manager that the rooftop bar might actually generate more revenue if left open for hotel guests to relax, dine, and unwind—instead of turning into a club-like venue that alienated paying guests. He agreed, surprisingly. Yet nothing changed.
To add insult to injury, our friends staying in other hotels wanted to come enjoy a drink or food at the SkyBar—but were turned away due to the blaring nightclub atmosphere. A real missed opportunity and a slap in the face to loyal customers.
This "nightclub" has also disturbed our friends during the night at the Hilton Hotel next across the road from the Radisson RED.
We’ve stayed with Radisson in other cities and had consistently positive experiences. We’ve recommended the brand to friends and family. But this Glasgow RED branch? A complete shambles.
Other unacceptable issues included:
No replenishment of tea, coffee, or water in the rooms. We had to chase reception daily to get basic hospitality supplies.
They ran out of bottled water, which is supposed to be complimentary for Radisson members.
A friend a few rooms away had a blocked shower, which flooded her bathroom daily. Despite reporting it multiple times, it still wasn’t fixed three days later. She had to use towels to mop the floor, then carry them down to the lobby each day to be replaced—because she didn't want to leave soaked towels lying in the room.
A mon hotel should know better—especially one under the Radisson banner. Event planning and guest comfort should never conflict. This hotel failed on both counts.
We will not be returning to Radisson RED Glasgow, and we’ll think twice before booking with Radisson again unless major changes are made to management, communication, and respect for...
