Okome Shawlands — Restaurant in Scotland

This is my second time ordering, first delivery and now just collected about 5 minutes ago, Their food tastes amazing especially the sushi hence the big sushi order today. Its suitable for vegans and meat eaters which is a plus since my partner vegan,

Food is reasonably priced, it's a short distance from my home but collection is just as good, saved 2 quid but I was on my way home from work anyway.

I did order via their website directly as just eat was unavailable for some reason. Ordering was fine just wished the website on the phone doesn't keep closing and opening the food tabs (sushi, yakisoba ect) it was quite annoying and I searched for a while to see if there was any way to add extra ginger, wasabi and soy sauce which I couldn't find, although that can be changed in the future. I couldn't be happier that there is a japanese restaurant within distance from my house.

Great wee restaurant looks nice inside but due to covid its understandable why...

I've tried you again and it was waaaaaaaay better. Actually pretty delicious this time!

I had really high hopes for this place and was excited to have a sushi joint on my doorstep; I miss the sushi I used to have in Japan. Sadly, I feel rather let down.

Firstly, my tuna sashimi wasn't actually cut properly and was a little odd tasting. The texture was a bit slimy too. It was some fairly tasteless tuna.

The mango and salmon was bland. I mean, the fish itself was actually pretty damn good but there was no other flavour, even with the dressing and the mango.

The chili chicken ramen was underwhelming and very salty. I didn't finish the broth. Not like me. The beef was delicious in it though; a saving grace.

Finally, my salmon box was too old. Some of the rice was dry and the pickled ginger was also dried out. Un-cool. I've paid a fair whack of money for this and expect super-fresh...

On this visit we got a big mix of things:

King prawn tempura Chicken gyoza Fried chicken Salt and chilli chicken Kimchi cheesy fries Regular fries Steamed rice Maki Set

The reason we got two sets of fries is because my boyfriend doesn’t like kimchi but I was desperate to try the cheesy kimchi fries! We thought it would be a small portion but both showed up quite big so this was probaly a mistake on our part. However, the kimchi fries were absolutely delish!

🍱 The maki sushi set was a perfect amount to try a few different things and it had a nice variety of fish and chicken. I feel a lot of sushi sets are only one thing so this was great.

🥟 The chicken and the gyozas were delicious and the prawn tempura was huge and tasted nice but I would have preferred the batter was just a bit crispier and cooked slightly longer.

Overall a delicious dinner from somewhere I keep...
