I didn't know places like Paco's still existed and I'll so pleased that they do. If you have a few days in Perth then make sure to visit. Paco's is an American style diner restaurant. It's too large just to be a diner and you're welcomed at the door to be taken to your table. It doesn't feel straight up restaurant to me either. There are diner-style tablecloths, model planes hanging from the ceiling and wait staff in pinafore style uniforms. Whatever it is; it works for me. Tip: I'd book if you can but I walked my lonesome in and was guided to a table right at the back. I've eaten at about half a dozen places in Perth now, using Google Maps to find the best fit for me. Paco's food is a contender for the best I've had there. It certainly has the most diverse menu. I went with Argentinian chicken kebab which were tender and perfectly cooked. I could bite straight from the kebab skewers. So I did! The kebabs come with a dainty portion of spicy rice which reminded me of Nando's at their best. Paco's chicken is better. I finished with xango. That's cheesecake wrapped in flour tortilla and then fried! I had never heard of it before, had to try it and glad I did. Calorific delight! Overall? Impressed and I'll go back. I'll order differently just to begin to explore the menu. If I am back in Perth, I won't be in full commander of my own timetable so won't be able to book. I want to eat at Paco's again but not at the awkwardness of arranging an entire weekend around the visit.

Great place to eat, it's quite close to the pay and display parking in Mill Street Multi story car park ( don't park in the street outside as it's a no loading/parking area and a few of the cars there were getting parking fines). There are plenty of tables inside with a few outside (heaters included). The whole interior feels old fashioned and has loads of items on the walls. The area for dining was clean and tidy. We were greeted the second we stepped through the door and were taken to our table. We ordered drinks and food which came out soon after. As we were not too hungry we ordered from the kids menu, which were smaller portions. The cod and fries tasted ok but looked like they were bought frozen and then heated up. The pasta we ordered tasted nice and although it was from the kids menu it was still a big enough bowl, the fish and chips however were small but luckily we were told it was a small portion so I ordered an extra side of fries. You get an after eight with your latte which is a nice touch but at £3.85 a cup we found that a bit expensive. The servers on this day, 12/08/2022, round about 2pm were polite, prompt and well presented. The toilets (up 3 flights of stairs) were clean and tidy. Disabled toilets downstairs.

2 star only due to staff and surroundings being good. Food wise and value for money is extremely poor. Ordered a Thai Green curry, the recipe should contain coconut which there was 0 hint of. The curry tasted generic, going to an Indian or Chinese takeaway would be cheaper and contain more flavour. I was able to fulfill my thai green curry needs when the next day by cooking at home. The rice being one of the cheapest ingredients they could serve in the whole restaurant was minimal portion to nearly non existent. I could see the plate between rice grains. Dad ordered a stake which was cooked more rare rather than medium to well done. He didn't eat, we took it home and gave to the cats (to note, they survived) Wouldn't visit again based on first experience.

2nd vist to Paco's but the first during the covid pandemic.

The manager at the door (Joe) would be best suited with a non customer facing role. He grunted as he pointed us to the hand sanitiser and without any explanation, an infrared thermometer was on my forehead before I could say hello. Not a great greeting at all.

There are screens between each table on the same level but nothing between you and the table on the next level, which results in people sitting lass than 2 feet away from you with no barrier, which makes the screens that do exist totally pointless, especially when the tables beside ours were further away than the one above us.

We placed our order, including bread but this never arrived or in fact even made it into the ordering system. The order was taken by a different person to the one that looked after us for the remainder of our time there. (Anna)

Barrier tape in the toilets to keep a gap between 2 of the urinals but 2 side by side are still in use, and one of these is beside the wash hand basin so again not ideal for social distancing.

The food itself was excellent quality and hot but our experience with Joe put a damper on the evening and will be the reason we will not return.

Thank you Anna for your professional,...
