Our first time travelling to Strathaven Town today 10 th June. We wanted to find out what Strathaven Town is like? It's a small town but very pleasant and clean town.
We were looking for a place to eat and we walked pass Strathaven tea room. Before we went in had a peep through the window. The place look nice and clean so decided to go inside to have a look at their menu. The young lady was pleasant and friendly. She gave us few minutes to look at the menu. Time to place the order. I ordered breaded fish and chips and my friend ordered macaroni and chips and tea. Whilst we were waiting for our meals. I decided to googled the reviews. Oh dear three out of three left one star on tea room reviews. We were like oh god.... Was it really that bad? Well I can tell you we really enjoyed our meals and didn't have a bad experience in the tea room at all.
Anyway, we waited for between fifteen to twenty minutes for our meals and tea to arrived. We were very happy with the meals. Freshly cooked and piping hot too. I am very happy with my fish and chips there was not a bit of grease on the fish and chips at all. My friend enjoyed hers too. Well done chef and thank you.
We would definitely come back here again if we travel to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWas there a few weeks ago and had a delicious breakfast. Breakfast panini with sausage, bacon and a fried egg went down a treat. Only problem was when the waitress brought my son a glass she handed it over with 3 fingers inside it!! As I cleaned it with the napkin she asked if anything was wrong and when I explained she was very apologetic and provided another glass no problem. This week was an entirely different matter (different staff). Ordered the same and asked for extra egg. Was advised it came with 2 eggs. She obviously didn't believe me when I said that wasn't the case before! ! Eggs were really underdone. Glass provided for my son was absolutely filthy and I'm still waiting for my tea!! My issues were dealt with by the chef who made me feel like I was being unreasonable - underdone egg is the way they cook them - I should have asked for the egg to be turned. Filthy glass replaced with not a word although the waitress insisted she apologised . Did eventually apologise for the lack of tea but by then it was far too late for apologies for me. Great if you're a local otherwise forget it. Also - is certainly not always busy - both times we were there it was...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreCold and unwelcoming coffee shop in dire need of new tables. We got here around 4pm and ordered 3 cappuccinos which were awful. Dark brown, watery with a little bit of froth. We questioned if we had actually received cappuccinos to be told we did, we were surprised as for sure the cup of dark brown liquid is nothing like any cappuccino Iāve tasted anywhere. We were informed āwell thatās what a cappuccino is hereā . Even when extra milk was sarcastically brought to the table the coffee was still undrinkable . Did we get a discount, of course not. Just another sarcastic encounter with a stafff member who clearly could not wait to get us off the premises. Is this our first visit? No, we used to visit Strathaven regularly and have had a number of lunches here but there are now far more superior places to enjoy coffee (sadly they close early)so this really is the last choice of coffee shop. Save yourself the...
