The Strathaven — Restaurant in Scotland

I visited the strathaven for lunch a few weeks ago with my husband, we were presented the whole menu and we had the burger and mac and cheese which was Absolutely appalling. which did infact led us to become unwell an hour after I believe. The wait for the food was so long about 40mins before our plates were presented to the table. The staff are as useful as chocolate teapots, when we visited it was an English woman and a man serving us. We were basically completely ignored during our overall visit and I overheard the woman saying “ they better tip”, why should you expect tips for terrible customer service and food! The place looked minging to be fair, cobwebs, dust and dead flies everywhere. I think the health inspectorate would need to take a visit here. Would not recommend stay clear unless you want it coming out...

Loved the live entertainment but was ruined by rowdy man who kept shouting and making an absolute ass of the place. Bar maids did not do anything to curb his behaviour and kept serving him....got to the point he was shouting at entertainment ( was a musician with guitar not taking requests) to the point I said to the guy he's a musician not a karaoke bar and If that's what you want maybe go to a karaoke bar to which bar maid tells me I'm on a warning and will be thrown out if I say anything else. So with that I told her she has allowed a drunken man to basically clear out the pub with his behaviour and she can say goodbye to my custom too. We ate at The Strathaven tonight and were mightily impressed. I was expecting the usual pub grub, but the food we received was amazing. We had a sharing platter (everything in it home made including the most beautifully cooked tempura prawns and melting Mac n cheese bites. I chose a salad for main as it was made with pulled chicken, roasted beforehand in their own ovens. Very generous on the bacon too and excellent dressing. I can’t fault it. My friend had a burger from their build your own options - it comes exactly as you want it - she wasn’t disappointed.
