Travelled from Ayrshire to try this place because of the high reviews, but seriously wish we didn't! The food was very disappointing. We had quesadillas that had too much dressing and were served in quarters with only a tiny bit of salad (almost not worth being there), which had way too much vinegar. However , the standard of the food was made worse when we saw the standard of the hygiene in this place, as we were completely turned off what we were eating when the man with the beard walked outside holding a pack of flour tortillas to smoke then went back into the kitchen and continued working without washing his hands. Surprised he didn't do it considering that the kitchen was clearly visible . Absolutely disgusting and I couldn't eat after that. When the waitress (Susan) returned she asked if anything was wrong and I said yes . I told her that we didn't like one of the dishes. I mistakenly didn't say what I had seen but she was already uninterested so I knew it would have landed on deaf ears. I waited for her to apologise, offer a refund for the dish or an alternative but nothing. Because of this I asked for a refund for the one dish and was made to wait for 10 minutes while she looked through Apple Pay machine for my bill. Despite me telling her I paid cash. She then gave me the £5.45 in small coins, again this made me feel that she was annoyed and wanted me to feel awkward. It was a truly horrible experience and we...

I went here as a group of 5 and really liked the food. I had the cauliflower wings and the jackfruit burger. The portion sizes were huge, so much so I couldn't fit in dessert. The cauliflower coating was lovely and the burger was just fantastic, it was full of spices and flavour. The side chips were quite bland though, no seasoning to them.

The reason for 4 stars is that the service isn't great. There were no drinks menus on the table so it was a bit of a guessing game with people wandering up to the bar to have a look. When the waiter took our order he tried memorising it, got it completely wrong then got a pad of paper and we had to repeat our order. Also they didn't clear the tables as you were finished, it was more bung them all at the end out of the way. I think the staff probably need some experience in restaurant front of house duties.

Overall though it's definitely worth a visit and I would go back again. I'm not a vegetarian but that burger was better than most meat...

We dropped by here on a Tuesday for a friend's birthday. There's no table service nor an app, so we all had to join the long queue at the bar to order everything (-1 star). The food menu was Mexican vegetarian so ordered a few items of each. The food arrived at some point, but no cutlery or napkins so we ended up having to ask for those at the bar as well (-1 star). The food itself was thoroughly unimpressive - I've made far better tacos at home (-1 star). A couple of us arrived a little later, including the birthday boy, and they were told they ran out of food and they can't order anything anymore. What kind of place runs out of food?! It was a little before 20:00 so definitely not too late. We ended up sharing some of the food we got with them (-1 star). They did have a great selection of drinks and well-priced beers so +1 star for that. Overall a horrible dining experience, so I'd never eat here again, though might consider...

Presenting a local pub and gig venue alongside some of the best vegan eats in Glasgow is a really fresh and modern taken on what a vegan meal experience can be; Warm, Welcoming and Fun for all! I’ve come to expect a less than inviting approach to service in all the vegan restaurants I’ve visited over the past 6 months, however the rapport between staff and client at The 78 is akin to a local village pub rather than pretentious/passing fad eatery. Dogs being allowed is a huge plus, and it is possible that there is some kind of unspoken grooming competition in play! Inviting to all, I highly recommend a visit. UPDATE: Brunch is a new addition and is simply outstanding! After a heavy week (or Saturday night!!) this is the answer to that hungry question that every person has around 10am on a Sunday.
