Love the Venue pub (mostly go there for drinks rather than food and usually find it quite busy with good atmosphere) however was really disappointed with our Friday lunch visit. Friend and me both ordered salad bowls (1 chicken and 1 halloumi). For the price I expected a decent sized bowl of salad with plenty of the salad items listed. However a plate arrived (no bowl) with very little mixed salad which included small amount of the listed items through it (size was more like a token side salad which would accompany a main dish) no trace of beetroot that I could see, the chicken was diced into small cubes at one end, (felt like it resembled what I'd expect on a toddler's plate) with some sliced egg, portion of grated cheese and coleslaw. I paid an additional £2.50 for baby potatoes as these or chips are charged extra. Other meals being served looked much better value, but very disappointed with the salads. Service was polite but we did wait a while and appeared to be only one staff member serving so decided just to eat the salads rather than ask for a replacement. Pub was quieter until a couple came in and had a long, loud argument which I felt staff should have addressed, if we'd not just started our drinks we'd have taken ourselves elsewhere. Will return for drinks as it's a great pub but sadly not for lunch.

Read moreNice place to go for dinner. Has an old fashioned, antique-shop style to the decor with mismatched furniture which adds character, quirkiness and warmth. Very large venue, with several areas depending on your needs - bar, live music, or restaurant.
Booked a table for a leaving dinner one night. Food was great - alot of it for the price. Staff were attentive and friendly. We were moved from a large table (due to a change in our group numbers) and ended up dining on top of a piano (yes, really!). The quirkiness wears off quickly after realising its a little difficult to eat when you're on high chairs. Preferable for drinks only.
My biggest issue was the over-attentiveness of the staff to a blown bulb in a light above the table. It was looked at several times over three hours by no less than five separate members of staff including a chef or manager and the Maitre-d. Eventually a ataff member came to change the bulb, asking a member of my group to move while he was eating his meal - wasn't happy about this. Involved the staff member standing precariously on a chair.
The girls on the bar were also reluctant to split the bill between the members of our group and asked if we could favour card payments. This isn't a difficult thing to do, but I think needs a little update of the systems used which seemed to...
Read moreI haven't had food here as yet, so I couldn't rate for this. I have been here for drinks downstairs and clubbing upstairs. Compared to 7 years ago, the atmosphere is much better. Love the open mic nights, and although there is only one bar open in the nightclub when it's extremely busy, the staff work very hard to serve us our drinks. They even saw me having a hot flush and gave me their fan momentarily to cool me down whilst waiting to be served. That was a very decent touch, so thank you. Great staff - including the door staff who are very lovely. I can't fault any staff. They work very well as a team. Keep that up, guys and girls. You're doing great 👍🏻 I will happily spend my money here and Half a Tanner on...
