This is a little hidden gem of a restaurant; it's really worth a visit for its beautiful, thoughtful cooking (and friendly, quietly attentive service).

I've eaten a lot of food which is overdressed and over elaborate, so I really appreciate it when I get something where everything on the plate has its purpose and is treated with respect. I had an absolutely perfectly cooked, well rested medium rare steak (that actually was properly medium rare). What almost impressed me more though was the care and consideration given to the vegetable garnishes - and the same thought and attention to detail is apparent in everything from the wine list to the delicious little bread rolls and butter.

A special mention to their cheese board, which is generously proportioned and one of the best I've ever had (and I have eaten a lot of cheeseboards). This was beautifully and simply presented with a lovely mix of textures, and juxtaposition of salty cheese and sweet chutneys (and just the right proportions of biscuits to cheese, which is rarer than it should be!).

I last visited this restaurant in 2019 shortly after it opened and was impressed; I'm delighted to see that they've survived lockdown and come out even stronger...

Highly recommended by a friend, we booked a mid-week dinner. The restaurant, which has its own off street car park, a big plus in Glasgow's West End, also has an outside eating area. The restuarant itself is accessed via a flight of stairs from the carpark. The decor is fairly subdued but helped with an overall relaxed atmosphere. ...And then came the food. Our starters were the goat cheese fritters with main courses of ox cheek and the cauliflower and chickpea curry. Whilst my description does it no justice whatsoever, it all was excellent. The meat was perfectly cooked, giving it a melt-in your-mouth quality. The wine choice was also good. The young server was mannerly and professional, and we never felt rushed. The prices for the quality was very reasonable. I will be back asap for a brunch... and a lunch. Highly...

On very short notice, the team at the Prancing Stag helped us pull together a lovely and meaningful lunch after my granddad-in-law's funeral. The meal was absolutely exquisite from start to finish: many members of our party had the lamb, which was so tender and flavorful, while others raved about the halloumi, the duck, and the chicken supreme. Desserts were impossible to choose from, each delicious. The servers were kind and attentive, and each course was served at the same time - clearly a well-run kitchen given the size and last-minute nature of our crew. And the outdoor seating and covid measures were fantastic as well, making us all feel safe. Thank you so much to the Prancing Stag, a five-star establishment with a...

Another great meal at the prancing stag for my birthday The services was excellent and the quality of food was outstanding. My wife is lactose intolerant and they couldn’t be more helpful choosing the meal for her. At one stage the chef came out to see her to talk through what he could do for her. Food was outstanding and worth every penny I paid and yes it’s a bit pricey but you are paying for high class quality food. I Can’t fault this restaurant will 100% definitely be back in the future

Blown away by the quality of the food at the Prancing Stag. Small but mighty menu filled with fresh, seasonal dishes which were all presented beautifully. Great wine selection too. Lovely interior which feels homely yet intimate and exclusive. Very friendly staff who were excellent, particularly when catering for a nut allergy and noted any changes made to each dish to accommodate this. Brilliant value for money and perfect place for a special occasion. A hidden gem of Glasgow I would say.

Our second visit to The Prancing Stag, and the new menu choices were as good as the first time. They kindly accommodated my request to modify the surf and turf to remove the prawns, and it was absolutely delicious with additional scallops and a small piece of monkfish. The sticky toffee pudding was particularly light and pleasant, and their non-alcoholic cocktails were lovely.
