Booked last minute whilst in the area and what a treat it was.
Very welcoming and smiley friendly staff. Sat down to our table and drinks ordered.
We looked at the menu, and placed our order. Once placed we were then asked if there were any allergies. I have a prawn allergy and advised the waitress.
5 minutes later the waitress returns to inform me that 95% of the food choices used paste/ gkaze that has prawn and therfore was only 1 main dish which had to be adjusted and half of the platter to start. I know I have a allergy but when your asked after you have ordered and settled in at the table with drinks, it was a bit of bad timing to ask. Think best practice would be to ask at the beginning, as I might have moved to somewhere else for our meal that night.
That said, the food I had was very tasty, and could not fault it. Just not what I wanted and planned to have.
Sadly, due to limited options, we wont be back, but we would recommend, asvise booking and also be warned regarding the allergy issue.
Also appreciate that this is a railway carriage and space for an extensive menu is limited. So do appreciate the chef accommodating my allergy on...
Read moreI generally love Asian and especially Thai food (especially being Asian myself). However, this whole experience was disappointing. It's way overpriced and over-hyped. The service is also bad. The green curry had absolutely no flavor or spice despite me ordering it "spicy". The portions are on the small side as well. They wouldn't allow you to upgrade (I was willing to pay a surcharge) the regular rice to egg fried rice because it's "hard for the kitchen" which doesn't make sense. They asked my partner how he liked his dish and he honestly said he'd have liked more sauce, and the serve starts making odd comments and acting offended and how the sauce takes 2 hours to make. It was unprofessional and off-putting; if you don't care or will get upset, don't ask. They also didn't even wish my partner happy birthday despite it being in the reservation and them saying "I see here there's a birthday" when we checked in with the host which was a bit weird. Overall we were very...
Read moreIf you are in Pitlochry, this family run Thai restaurant is a fantastic place to eat and to spend time. In fact, I would recommend going to Pitlochry just to experience this restaurant. The restaurant is housed, close to Pitlochry railway station, in a former Norwegian railway carriage. And it is not just any railway carriage but it was a film star in "Mission Impossible" with Tom Cruise. It has been beautifully refurbished into a delightful restaurant setting by Fergus McCallum with considerable attention to detail. That's only the start. The food is fabulous, home made Thai dishes, cooked on-site by Isara McCallum. The deserts are a special treat! There are some wonderful Thai wines to accompany the dishes. And, then, the friendly and knowledgeable front-of-house team of staff led by Fergus and Isara's daughter, Mia, makes this a truly wonderful experience. We will certainly be returning on our next trip to Pitlochry! Or even if we are just happent to be...
