My son and I came here for tea, before the cinema. I was very disappointed with the carvery, maybe it was because we arrived at 720, and the food had been out for a long time. In honesty I think it had been out, way past the legal limits. I work with food, and I wouldn't have served this. In fairness to the establishment, we have been here a number of times and the food has been a acceptable, so maybe it had been a very busy day, and the standards had slipped. I rarely post bad reviews of places , and always try to give an honest reply, and this is what we saw today. The place is set right on the front , facing the pier, and it is a very well presented pub. It was tidy and clean inside, with smart decor and furniture. The staff were friendly and helpful, and a waitress came to ask us if everything was ok, I hesitated before nodding my head. Which I wish I had given her the feedback. I would eat here again, but arrive sooner. And on a quieter day.

Really enjoyed our visit, the decor and atmosphere was lovely, it was a bit disappointing to find there was no Pedigree on as that was one of our reasons for choosing this pub but we soon settled on alternative drinks. We then ordered food and drinks via the app, staff brought the drinks over really quickly and checked the rest of our order and asking how we preferred it served (starter first or all together) when the food arrived it was piping hot and delicious 😋 once we had finished the plates were quickly removed and our main meal arrived, again piping hot, nicely presented and cooked to our liking. We were so full we had to order more drinks so we could sit comfortably and digest it before moving on! Would definitely recommend to anyone in the area and we will return next time we are up this way.

Very nice. I tried the carvery and everying was nice and fresh/hot. They do other pub food like burgers and fish & chips which are also nice. The soft drinks are refillable but not at a drinks machine like most places, you have to queue up at the bar each time which is a bit annoying For dessert I had the "Cookie Fondant" Brownie, but it's more like a brownie than cookie despite the name. It is very large so definitely a sharing dessert. I couldn't finish it, however they do have take out to go boxes The staff do seem very nice and helpful but there is not much "service". You take yourself to a table, and order food/drinks at the bar. However I personally don't mind this style of service

The booking system online, along with the confirmation and reminder messages were easy to use and very efficient. I made a phone call to check the carvery was on during the week and was reassured it was, by a gentleman who explained everything in a friendly, cheerful manner, which made me look forward to our meal.

The table (for 18) was all set for our 6:30 arrival - all three tables close together in a corner. Reece behind the bar was extremely attentive on our arrival and throughout our time. He calmly took our order (including three of us who have food allergies), explained the process re allergens and also the carvery arrangements, in addition to efficiently serving our drinks. He had a lovely banter with different members of our party from three generations and he regularly checked we had all our requirements - even suggesting drink options after listening to our preferences. Richard T was amazing behind the carvery - very knowledgeable and reassuring about allergens (or lack of) in each product, serving us with a smile - despite all our allergies - and wishing us an enjoyable meal - having a banter with us in the swiftly moving queue. He also made a point of going off to wash his hands before serving each one with an allergy. The food and drink were excellent - we had carveries, main courses from the menu and a mixture of alcoholic/hot and cold drinks. The beef was particularly nice and the gravy (although a little watery) was really tasty. It was clean plates all round - it’s great that you do three plate size choices as there was absolutely no waste! The other staff were also excellent - constantly moving around ‘multi-tasking’ in terms of clearing/cleaning and serving. The decor is great - mixture of small booths and larger but intimate areas - great pictures on the walls that went around corners. Nice background music - still able to hear each other but not other guests. Clean environment. Nice temperature and atmosphere. Will...

An extremely disappointing visit. Having pre-booked a table, when we arrived we were left standing at the desk which stated please wait to be seated. There were staff serving at the bar where we could clearly be seen and staff passing the desk serving meals. Nobody made any attempt to seat us. A queue had formed behind us but still nobody took any effort to deal with it. Eventually a woman from further back in the queue walked to bar staff and spoke to them. Following this, a member of bar staff came to the desk, asked the woman her name and party size. The woman called the rest of her party forward and he took them to a table. A young female then took my details, checked on the computer, told us table 1 and asked to follow her. As she got to a table, which I assumed was the table we had been allocated, she appeared to realise what had happened. She then turned to us and asked if we would sit at a table with a semi-circle bench seating. My son ordered our food at the bar, 3 burger meals and 2 carvery meals. At no point were we made aware that there was very little meat left available at the carvery serving. Despite being charged full price, there was very little meat, mashed potato and peas, only a spoonful of each. On ordering the food, a portion of pigs in blankets was ordered. After waiting a while for them, my son questioned a member of staff, who told him they would go and check on them. By the time they arrived we had eaten our meals. I appreciate that Saturday evenings are likely to be extremely busy but that is why we would pre-book a table. Sorry but The Guelder Rose is somewhere that I would never...

Having been to this restaurant many times with family and grandchildren, yesterday's visit will be the last time. Served by Georgia, the rudest person in my opinion,my son arrived a little later he was served by a blonde lady, also incredibly rude. There was a moment our server tutted and rolled her eyes as children couldn't decide which drink they wanted. This made me feel very uncomfortable and embarrassed due to the huge queue building up behind us. There were other staff members sitting at end of bar watching while our server took orders, poored drinks, got cutlery etc. Everything seemed so much trouble to them. Your chef was also a very rude man,I was seriously considering just leaving but having spent almost £100 between all of us and not wanting to disappoint the grandchildren, we stayed. In saying that, the food was good although our carvery meat was almost transparent. Think we will be looking for another venue in future, somewhere the staff have interpersonal skills and actually want to be behind the counter. There was one gentleman staff member who was very helpful, tall fair haired,he was your saving grace!

UPDATE TO YOUR REPLY . You clearly haven't read the reviews on other sites, also stating rude staff, bad attitude, wafer thin meats!! I didn't ask for management, what's the point?? We were their for a family day,so complaining on the day wouldn't have made a difference, the damage had already been done,it shouldn't have happened in the first place. I'm not on my own in regard to your staff etc, read other...
