Southport's Ocean Plaza is getting a brand-new Starbucks soon! ☕🎉
Updated May 2024
On my second visit to this store, it felt like entering a war zone! The staff were miserable and hostile, refusing to take drink orders for customers sitting outside. I ordered a £3.55 latte, but the Starbucks employee put through something else—a chocolate and caramel latte for £4.20. They were really miserable there, with no thanks or acknowledgment when handing over the drink. Drinks were almost being flung at customers. What a terrible coffee shop this Starbucks has become! I personally suggest a complete overhaul, with better-trained, customer-friendly staff who love their job instead of this bunch!
The coffee blend doesn't taste like the usual Starbucks. It's very bitter and lacks flavuor!

Starbucks reflects a mix of disappointments. Firstly, the service is inconsistent, with staff seemingly unmotivated to promptly attend to customers.
Additionally, the coffee lacks the distinctive Starbucks blend, tasting overly bitter and resembling a generic brew found in any average coffee shop. An extra charge of 5p for ordering a drink in a paper cup to consume in-store further diminishes the appeal.
The food offerings are also lackluster, with nothing particularly remarkable, and the croissants appear stale. The ambiance of the establishment feels more akin to a children's play centre than a cosy coffee shop.
Moreover, the reward program falls short of expectations, demanding a significant spend of £50 for a complimentary drink and £150 to achieve gold membership, which offers perks like free syrup and extra coffee shots. In comparison, Caffè Nero emerges as a commendable alternative, boasting attentive staff and superior coffee blends and pastries. Their reward system is notably more accessible, requiring just 9 stamps for a free drink, equating to approximately £25.65...
Read moreHi, I recently purchased two £10 gift cards for my young children for Christmas because they enjoy visiting your stores. Today I took my children to your new Southport store on marine drive, they where both excited to be ordering their own drinks but when they placed the order I was told they don’t yet accept gift card but where happy to sell me a gift card. I purchased the drinks via my visa debit card so that the children were not disappointed. I find this unacceptable, and prior notice should be displayed upon entering the store. This was my first visit to this store, and after today’s experience I will not be returning. Firstly the gift cards were not accepted then the children’s drinks arrived wrong even tho the label on the outside of the cup was correct, the staff clearly can’t follow instructions. Secondly I also purchased two cups of tea to sit inside your new store but they arrived in paper cups I took them back and asked for a proper cup only to be told they had none available and the staff put both drinks in the large cups, even though it’s not what I ordered. My whole experience in your store today was unpleasant and very stressful, I am now thinking in future to to spend my money in small independent store where they can offer me the personal touch and deliver me the correct drinks in a more enjoyable relaxed atmosphere where they are not chasing...

The tables were dirty and cluttered with cups, making it nearly impossible to find a place to sit. Despite ordering my coffee multiple times, it was never prepared correctly, with missing shots, syrup, or even receiving an iced drink instead of a hot one. The staff seemed indifferent to customer requests and were more focused on joking around than providing service. On one occasion, I even received my drink in a takeaway cup despite specifying twice that I intended to stay in. The overall atmosphere was chaotic and unprofessional, with incidents like staff throwing items at each other and making jokes, adding to the unpleasant experience. For one coffee, you will be querying forever. To make matters worse, the air-conditioning was malfunctioning, making it unbearable to stay inside. The music choice was not appropriate for guests sitting with children. In summary, visiting this Starbucks felt like a trip to hell rather than a pleasant coffee outing. I would strongly advise against patronising this location until significant...
