Ocean Plaza Brewers Fayre — Restaurant in Sefton

Came here today with my children as the play area is great! However that was the best part, the lady and the man on the bar were both great and really attentive, however when I approached the server with the few issues we did have she’s argued I was wrong about my order then tried to brush over it as fast as possible, we ordered starters for ourselves and the children there’s came we waited patiently nothing then the children’s mains and ours followed I went to find the server to ask why we hadn’t received them to which she said I had ordered my starters to come out with the mains I tried to explain I never because why would that even make sense she blatantly didn’t want to listen and said it must of been the bar maid who’d done that then so to blame her, the £4.19 garlic bread starter that came was literally 2 small and I mean small slices of garlic bread and cheese the Iceland ones are bigger! And it was stone cold I’m guessing it had been sitting there since they served my children’s starters, kids meals didn’t come with drinks again asked the server were there drinks were to which she said they don’t come with drinks and I didn’t pay for any and walked off after taking my receipt to the bar to prove id payed I then received them, £3.19 for a sauce dish worth of chips, and they charge nearly 3 pound for a coke which isn’t on tap it’s a small glass bottle, £59 pound plus vat is absolutely shocking for two kids meals two adult meals two starters and two cokes with a j20, would come again for the play area but definitely...

Went for our daughters birthday on a Wednesday afternoon. Was very disappointed with the overall experience. We were told we could not get our NHS blue light discount even though the website said we could. We paid near £100 for all our meals and drinks. Drinks from the pop machine tasted vile and we weren't told they were diet only. Our food took a while to come out and when it did my burger meal was missing half the ingredients (turkey, bacon, gravy). When I said to the waitress the burger was missing ingredients I was met with an eyeroll and not an apology. Like somehow it was my fault. She brought it back with the other ingredients but didn't bring gravy. I had to ask again and was met with another almost huff. I felt like I was the one in the wrong. But the meal was not cheap and shouldn't I get everything I ordered? Took ten mins or more to clear our plates when done. Food was not nice. Rather tastless. Our Puddings took another 15 mins to come out and we wanted to leave as we were going to run over our parking time. They said they would box the desserts. Then changed their mind, said they couldn't and brought them out as we were packing up to leave. She told us we had not been waiting that long and that the desserts take a while to decorate. She also said we would have 6 hrs free in the car park so there was no reason to leave. We had our desserts but were not impressed with the service or food at all. Will not be going back. I stayed at the premier Inn connected to ocean plaza mid July and had taken advantage of the joint promotion running for evening meal and breakfast for £25. When we got to brewers the manager asked if we had a booking, walked us half way to a table, pointed and told us to order at the bar, we had no chance to ask about the offer we were there to have. Thankfully one of the young wait staff was much more helpful. When going to the bar to order there was only one member of staff taking food orders and the line was quite long, more bar staff clearly needed. When I got to the till I gave my table number and order then said I was here for the promotion and asked if I had a receipt/token. I asked were reception meant to give me anything (I had presumed when they made the booking it was noted) the bar staff (clearly over worked) replied with "I don't know, were they?" Not great service! Went back to my table to check email receipt and went back to the bar where I had to line up again. When I was finally served (this time by the manager who eventually jumped on to help the bar staff) showed him the receipt first so no confusion a d he left the bar to go back to the hotel to check despite me clearly showing it on my email.

The food was lovely! The wait staff were great, but the manager and bar staff (although she was overworked) gave pretty shocking service.

Thankfully I don't see me returning to Southport in the future, but if I was I'd be weary of...
