Let me start by saying that I had high expectations for celebrating my birthday in Beju. In the beginning, it turned out that our reservation is not in the system because the restaurant no longer uses the services of Opentable... We were seated at a table and despite the fact that we were there for the first time, no one was eager to explain, for example, what was in a small jug on the table. I can guess it was soy sauce but I should not have to been forced to guess. Another minus - no locker room. The chairs are comfortable but not with a coat behind you... The music is way too loud. This is the restaurant part, shouting at your companions or waiter is very uncomfortable. I will add that the waiter also got our order wrong several times. First the type of water, then the number of servings of chips. Another minus - we ordered two cocktails, and one of them was impossible to order. I ordered a city of stars, which looks different from the promotional photos. I worked in hospitality for a long time and my duties as a waitress also included checking the correctness of the order - that it really looked the way it should. My cocktail was supposed to have cotton candy - it did not. Another thing - I was watching the cocktails and only one client received her cocktail with liquid nitrogens. I will add that our waiter, Adam, is very nice and tried very hard to make this experience better. The food is delicious, so it's worth coming for the food. We also got our order very quickly. Menu - I would expect something better than printing on plastic like in fast food. Please note that the prices on the website are not up to date (e.g. a burger is £20, not £17). Another note - I counted our order and I'm not sure if our receipt was correct. As we were in a hurry, I didn't have time to check and unfortunately, I didn't take it with me. If 10% of the service is actually added - it's lame, I wouldn't get a tip for a wrong and incomplete order, and now someone decides for me. You should earn tips for the quality of your work, not for just working.
3* because food was really,...
Read moreUnfortunately my visit didn’t live up to my expectations I had after reading the great reviews others have left for you.
We had booked in advance for a group of 6, and were sat on a table for 4 people. This meant three of us were in the booth seats, two on the chairs opposite, and I was given a chair at the end of the table, which did not fit and meant there was no table space. Initially this wasn’t an issue, but the table behind us was being set up and I was asked to move so they could fit another table in. The booth seats were also very flat and uncomfortable, as though they haven’t got sufficient cushioning. I also had my back to another customer and our chairs were very close and made it slightly awkward when going to the toilet etc. After around 20 minutes we still hadn’t been asked if we’d like any drinks so we had to ask the waiter. We also ordered food at the same time as we didn’t want to have to ask 20 minutes later to do that. One of my friends and I ordered from the starters/for the table section of the menu, and politely requested this to be brought out with the main meals our other friends had ordered, however we were told this wasn’t possible as the “kitchen was too busy”, which just doesn’t make sense.
Eventually, we were moved to the booth seats, which was better than our original table, but still too small for a party of 6. The food was good, but would’ve been better had the atmosphere been better.
Our server Nico was brilliant once we had been moved- very attentive and on the ball, but there were still moments where we had to wait a while after requesting something, despite the restaurant not being overly busy.
It’s unfortunate as like I previously mentioned, we had pre-booked the table, and ended up feeling like a bit...
Read moreWe visited Beju and first impressions, nice decor and layout. The food was ok but there were lots lacking. We waited about 15 minutes to be seated but we would not mind waiting if we were ushered to the bar where we could get a drink. After being seated about 10 minutes we enquired about menus then they were brought to us with an apology. Someone else took our drink order and we got them in fairly good time. We ordered our starters and mains together but we weren't asked whether we wanted them together. About 10 mins in they server returned advising that they no longer had one of our starters so we should chose another. Waiter wasn't even sure if our substitute was available and had to check with kitchen. 2 of the starters arrived and we had to wait a further 5 minutes for the other. They gave us an extra prawn starter and apologised for the long wait. It took us approx 45 min to get our mains but only 2 arrived. We realised that the others weren't coming anytime so started eating to avoid them going cold as they were already lukewarm. The side to go with one of the mains we received earlier arrived with the other mains 12 mins after. By then, my daughter had finished her main and refused to have it. My son decided to ask for the dessert menu and was told sure I'll bring it back. That server walked past us a few minutes after then told another server to come tell us the kitchen was closed. We paid our bill minus the service charge and hurried out. The entire experienced was not good and we did not feel as though our patronage was welcomed. We were also sat just under a speaker and the music was very loud and we could not hear each other properly. I can't see...
