I was threatened to not be served because I had questions about the allergen menu:
I am dairy intolerant and the slightest bit makes me ill. When I got the allergen menu in the restaurant a few bits didn't make sense, some very similar plates, one was OK, one wasn't (duck taco no, duck hash browns yes) I asked for clarification as tortillas don't usually have dairy to be told the allergen book was wrong regarding the tacos and I couldn't have any of them, I'd had tacos before so asked them to double check, they came back and said "they'd found some dairy free ones so I could have them". At this point because they couldn't answer my follow up questions they got a manager. He was very rude and abrupt, it was clear my questions were an inconvenience. I asked about the pork belly as again, I couldn't have the tacos but could have it as a side but they'd since "found" dairy free tacos. Again, I was told the book was wrong and I couldn't have the pork as it was cooked in butter. At this point I was getting stressed because the book meant nothing and I had no faith. It was settled I could have duck tacos with no sauces (so dry duck), but one of the sauces was also on a dairy free dish so I asked if could have that sauce at least. He said I couldn't have any sauces and I was told to stop arguing with him or he wouldn't take my order. I was calm and quietly asking questions to clarify what I could have so I could have an enjoyable meal, it was not an argument. I was that frustrated that when he left the table I started crying, which the manager and waiter both saw. The manager never returned to the table and the waiter acted like I was invisible for the rest of the meal.
Note to add: it was a day out planned with friends who love brewski and the share board so whilst theyre not the best dairy free restaurant option, I have eaten there before and was comfortable that I'd be able to have something enjoyable, even though I wouldn't have a huge choice. I didn't expect the allergen book to be wrong and the manager to threaten to not serve me.

Read moreThis Brewski branch is based at West One, Sheffield City Centre (the previous OHM yard), and has been changed slightly to reflect the décor and vibe of a North American lodge. We personally felt the atmosphere lacked a little with the slow drinks service at the bar and nothing much else adding to the “ultimate dining experience” that their website promises, but we enjoyed our meal nevertheless.
But I will say we both left wondering what all the hype was about?! We think it must be the Sharers (which was way too much food for just the two of us to order) because yes the food was decent, but there are quite a few similar or better offerings around nowadays that we weren’t sure what stood out about this place.. maybe we left our visit too long? Anyway…
We enjoyed;
THE KATSU MOIST MAKER BURGER £17.50; Brewski buttermilk fried chicken, burger cheese, lettuce, Katsu, sour cream and Chilli Heatwave Doritos – a GRAND, delicious burger that I could just about get my chops around. It was really tasty. Only criticism I have is that I wanted more Doritos! Also this came with skin on fries which were dry & meh, I wish I’d upgraded them to Salt & Pepper fries.
BREWSKI BURRITO £16.00; Deep fried crispy beef, hot sauce, lettuce, Cajun onions, deep fried pork belly, red chillies, pico de gallo, 3 cheese mix and chipotle sour cream – THIS IS REYT GOOD. So very tasty, spicy, cheesy & really filling. Ben added the Salt & Pepper Fries £3.50 to this and I had proper food envy as this was such a good choice. These were tangy, spicy and superb Mocktails & Pints (I wish I’d seen the special Fruit Pastel cocktail on the specials menu before we ordered a drink at the bar).
The food was good comfort “pig out” food, the atmosphere ok but nothing to shout about. It’s worth a visit but I wouldn’t rush here. Maybe plan to go with at least 4 people to try their amazing looking...

This place wows with big flavours and portions and is a real comfort food treat. The massive grazing boards are something of legend, and they also serve up loaded fries, poutine, burgers, burritos and tacos.
I couldn't help but wonder if things have slipped a little recently as the food was still great but I felt it had a lack of care and attention in places.
🧀🥩 We chose nachos to start that sounded incredible. Pulled beef , with a boursin sauce and n'duja. It was served in a small chipped bowl, the pulled beef was nice but the nachos were nothing to write home about and the n'duja and boursin was absent. Instead a regular tasting cheese sauce was under the meat.
🥩🧄🦐🍟for the main I chose steak loaded garlic butter fries with prawns. The steak and prawns was perfect and the garlic fries were delicious but so salty I couldn't eat many at all- and I'm a person that likes salt.
🍔🍟My partner ordered The Bear burger with bacon and this was absolutely delicious. Charred juicy burgers were spot on and I can honestly say this is the best burger either of us have tasted in a while.
🧀James also ordered the Mac and cheese side which was fantastic with a smoked cheese flavour coming through.
Service was great and feedback was politely given. Our waitress said she would tell the chef but he didn't listen to her 🙈 as we were the 3rd person in 3 days to say how salty the garlic fries were.
💯 We would still cautiously recommend Brewski, for delicious comfort food, but highly recommended the burgers and Mac and cheese , and if they eased up on the salt the steak fries would be...
