Me and a few friends went out a little beach trip out in Cleethorpes and decided to stop by Mount Lebanon back in Sheffield. When we arrived to West street it was lovely- all clubs were open and people were shouting up and down the street yet inside the restaurant you couldn’t hear any of it! Anyway we arrived with 2 waiters, one I believe was the manager- an amazing women and a great host. She provided exceptional hospitality and cleaned the table for us after a busy service. At this point you’re probably questioning why I didn’t rate 5 stars.. at this point the restaurant was half empty yet our order didn’t arrive for 40 mins- it’s understandable as we had 4 people but the table next over ordered after us and received their food earlier. Further to this some of us were breaking our fast for ramadan and as such left us starving however that’s partially us to blame as we should have ordered in advance. The food was AMAZING with some great dishes. My only critique being the male waiter took extremely long with the order and deliberately ignored us when we’d call him over to order some drinks (I say deliberately as he looked directly at us and gave us a wave as we called him over but continued to wipe the bar.
That aside the food was amazing, atmosphere is perfect and the price was extremely reasonable (to clarify to feed 4 of us (4 mains, 1 sharing starter platter, a couple of desserts and 7 drinks) cost about £74 which is a great price in my opinion)
We shall definitely be coming again and I’d highly recommend anybody living in sheffield, moving to sheffield or studying in sheffield to try it out! It’s hidden away on the second floor halfway down west street but it’s definitely a hidden...
Read moreSaturdays often prove challenging when seeking a tranquil dining spot in bustling city centres, and Sheffield is no exception. Faced with overwhelming crowds at numerous central cafés and coffee shops, my friend and I were desperate to find a quiet space to eat and talk. It was during a swift online search for Middle Eastern restaurants nearby that we stumbled upon Mount Lebanon. Arriving just 15 minutes past their opening time, we were pleasantly surprised to find the place completely empty. I was thus able to appreciate their beautiful interior - a perfect blend of sophistication and homeliness. Although the restaurant gradually filled up during our stay, its spacious layout maintained a serene atmosphere.
We opted for a large mezze platter to share, which included hummus, falafel, batata harra, chicken shawarma, lamb sambusas, and sojok, alongside a pot of mint tea. Everything was excellent and the big portion sizes meant we were satiated without needing a main course. The kunafa, however, fell slightly below my expectations for a Lebanese eatery (considering they are usually renowned for their excellence in Levantine desserts). Despite this minor critique, I wholeheartedly recommend Mount Lebanon to anyone craving fresh and authentic Middle Eastern cuisine in Sheffield. It's unfortunate that its top-floor location may cause many to overlook its unassuming exterior. This hidden gem deserves a bustling crowd.
A special note of gratitude goes to our delightful waitress, whose name I regrettably forgot to take. Her warmth and kindness elevated the entire dining experience, making her the most welcoming server I've ever encountered - truly the epitome of Arab...
Read moreWe live in Barnsley and we're craving Middle Eastern food. We're planning to go to Bab Toma in Leeds but thought to look for a closer option in Sheffield since we were in Sheffield already (Ikea) saw Mount Lebanon on google and decided to give it a try. Ordered takeaway 2 Mount Lebanon specials, Chicken Kabsa, Shawarma plate woth chips and Borak with cheese. I must say that we ate the food cold as it is a good 30 minutes drive back to Barnsley so with that in mind I gave it 3 stars since food tends to taste less appetising cold. Nonetheless we know what Lebanese and Syrian food should taste like having lived in Dubai for 8 years and been to both countries before.
The mezza (Hummus, Mutabal and Taboula) were very good not mind blowing but still as expected. The disappointment were with the rest. The Kabab (Kufte, lamb cubes meshwi and chicken cubes shishtawuk) were very very dry and with a strong gamey taste if anything not really edible without sauce lots of it. The chicken kabsa had nothing to do with what we call Chicken kabsa (Saudi dish) it was chargrilled chicken with yellow rice. The shawrma was again very very dry and lacked a lot on the flavour side. The Borak cheese was OK, can't fault it although we ordered Spinach borak but it was not available.
To sum up we were disappointed as although the restaurant was authentic Lebanese (I could clearly tell the people were Lebanese) but the food was not.
The search continues for a good levantine restaurant in South...
