Found this Neapolitan café on Google reviews and had to try it. Café Tucci has two branches, one on Surrey Street and one on Ecclesall Road. I went to the Surrey Street branch. I came on Thursday at 9.15am. All the pastries displayed are vegetarian, and all were halal apart from two. The ham served here isn’t halal. The friendly server told me the branch on Eccleshall Road is all halal and has a wider range of food. There is seating on the main floor and also downstairs.
Based on recommendations from the locals, I got the Pistachio Croissant, Sfogliatella Riccia and Nutella Latte. The Pistachio Croissant was flakey on the outside and quite soft on the inside. I saw the lady add the pistachio spread. It was from a tub. It was extremely sweet and tasted slightly chocolatey with a hint of pistachio. It was yummy though, especially with the extra pistachio crumbs on top. There are two variations of Sfogliatella Riccia - crunchy or soft. The lady recommended the crunchy one, so I got that. It had ripples of pastry on the top and was filled with ricotta cheese, candied orange and lemon zest. This pastry was rich, and the ricotta cheese filling was delicious and mildly cheesy. I’ve never had this before, and I was pleasantly surprised. It was extremely crunchy for me, but the pastry was easy to tear and eat. It had a decent amount of filling too.
The Nutella latte can be hot or iced. The lady recommended having it hot and I loved it. It was served with a little biscuit on top which was cute, and I think there were crushed biscuits within the latte. Probably a pass for me as I like a nice smooth latte. There was Nutella around the edge of the glass and also coated in crushed biscuits. I have a sweet tooth, but this latte wasn’t overly sweet which was nice. I would’ve liked the latte to be a little bigger though.
I paid at the end, and got a student discount. The servers were lovely and it was like speaking to friends, 100/10 service :D
I would definitely recommend coming here if you would like to try...

We wanted to visit this place for a long time. So glad we finally made it 😋
☕ORDERED: Pistachio Latte *Cafe del nonno Ciabatta with mozzarella, vegetables and pesto Tiramisu *Pistaccio Pie
🍞 You can choose from paninis, bruschetta, salads, cakes, pastries, different coffees and even buy some biscuits to take home😋 🍆 You can also build your own panino selecting from the ingredients available on their menu. That's what we did: we picked Ciabatta bread with some vegetables, mozzarella and pesto. It was so GOOD! Warm, tasty, fresh and a generous portion!
☕ It was our first time trying a pistachio latte and we got obsessed. Go for the Large one, you won't regret 😂
🍧Caffè del nonno is ice coffee made with cream, so creamy all full of flavour, almost like a dessert 😋
🍫 The pistachio pie was so good: not to sweet, creamy, delicious! The Tiramisu was also good but the pistachio pie was more addictive 😂
🍰 We wanted to try the pistachio croissant but they were sold out, if you want to try them go there in the morning.

Read moreI don't usually review places on google but this place was so great I felt like I have to come back and review.
The staff were amazingly proud and enthusiastic about serving us. The pannini/focaccia sandwiches are great for a brunch, they use very high quality imported meat and cheese from Italy. They didn't have croissants that day (the quality wasn't good enough soo they sent it back to the bakery) but we tried the brioche which is great. They ran out of the crema pasticcera one so they improvised a recipe for us, using the ricotta filling and chocolate chips they usually use for the canolli. It turned out awesome. They then served the same thing to a couple Itialians sitting next to us and we overhear them giving it a name brioche Tucci - we hope it will make it to the menu permanently.
The coffee is very honest, Italian style my only suggestion to them would be to make their cappuccinos smaller - closer to the size one would get in Italy. Don't expect new-wave barista-style light roast coffee you'd get in a high-end independent coffee place these days - but that's not the point of this place...
