Outside the restaurant there was a huge banner stating “Every Sunday 3 Courses Meal £11.95 only - any starter, any main & any rice or Nan bread” with no small print or terms and conditions regarding the deal. So we went in under the pretence of receiving that offer. We ordered two starters, two mains, 1 rice and 1 bread. When the bill came we were overcharged and not billed as per the offer. We were told that we hadn’t asked for the other when we ordered, but that they would adjust the bill as a ‘gesture of goodwill’. When the new bill came the offer was priced at £13.95 per 3 courses, not £11.95 as clearly advertised outside. They said that £11.95 was the old price. This is flagrantly illegal, contravening Unfair Trading Regulations 2008 amongst other legislation, yet, when we disagreed with the bill, we were treated with absolute contempt. After uncomfortably and embarrassingly having to resort to threatening to leave the premises and allow the matter to be settled in court, since it had become a civil matter, they begrudgingly accepted and corrected the price. Obviously it was only a few pounds, but the business showed itself to be dishonest, ignorant to the law, and lacking respect for its customers, and rewarding such behaviour didn’t seem right. It’s a shame, because before the bill came, we were talking about coming back another time. A greedy, illegal, and unintelligent business approach has cost them returning customers who live in the neighbourhood and would have otherwise recommended it to friends. Edit: photo taken today of the offer clearly not showing any terms...
Read moreWent here for a meal on Monday 25th Feb, absolutely atrocious. Sat down to an empty restaurant (should have told me all I needed to know!). Table cloth was filthy, menu was sticky and then we didn’t even get given menus for ten minutes despite there only being one other family. Ordered a prawn puri starter, lamb Karhi and pilau rice and shared a cobra beer. Starter was far too sweet. The worst thing was the horrendously cold rice, asked for fresh rice, which was brought and STILL cold!! Waiter was rude and dismissive. Lamb was so chewy and peppers were soggy and vile. They offered us a discount of £1.55!! I said I wasn’t happy to pay for the curry dish but would pay for the rest of it. The waiter said he couldn’t make that decision, it had to be the owner. He said he was away so he would ring him. However, the ‘owner’ was only upstairs as he appeared minutes later. He then said he wasn’t the owner and was just running the place (very badly!). He proceeded to tell us the chef had no curry left - so what an earth they scraped together and served us in beyond me! Then proceeded to have a ridiculously long and pointless argument about the bill only to receive £5 off. Disgustingly dirty place, will never visit again and staff that couldn’t care less. This place...
Read moreSince our favourite Indian restaurant (The Mangla) closed, we have been looking for a replacement. We tried 5-6 Indian restaurants, but we haven't found a good one until now!
The Indian Garden in Sheffield is hands-down the best Indian restaurant we have tried! We started with poppadoms and a very generous pickle tray which was lovely. I particularly enjoyed the onion salad, chilli sauce and raita. All perfect!
the Indian Garden Starters For 2, a sizzling hot platter that was an absolute delight. The chicken tikka, lamb tikka, and sheek kebab were bursting with flavor, perfectly spiced, and cooked to perfection—truly excellent. For mains, we had the Chef’s special curries: the Chicken Karahi and Murgh Masala, both of which were delicious, rich, and packed with authentic taste. The pilau rice was light, fluffy and the Peshwari Na'an was a perfect compliment to the tasty curry.
The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and provided prompt, polite service. The restaurant has a nice relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.
We’ve found our new curry home and we will definitely be going back soon! Highly recommend...
