The staff are friendly and also the locals, it's nice to see all the dogs in the great beer garden and as a bonus there are no screaming kids! You may get the odd trouble causer but they promptly get barred. Do not get me wrong if you kick off at the staff or the customers you will get barred! Thatâs how it should be... So overall there is no reason why you should not have a good experience. I should not have to mention this but reading the odd bad review which honestly doesn't ring true to me (probably from the previous types of bad/barred people I mentioned, which prompted me to write this review in the first place) I have not received any benefits/bribes or even prompted by the staff whatsoever for this review. I have being going daily for the past 5 years .If there is any questioning of the price, if you drink expensive drinks, they are about average price (posh gins, single malt etc.). If you drink cheap drinks they are cheap, for an example a double bell's scotch and soda is ÂŁ3.70 (which is cheaper than most... if you get the same it will be about double the price 30 metres...
Read moreWeâve been to this pub a lot over the years and have never had any issues, always felt at home and itâs been a really friendly and inviting place. We called in during a week day asking if they were serving food and the lady behind the bar said food wasnât served until 5, fair enough. Anyways, the way in which she said and pointed at my sleeping baby in the pram was very rude, BUT WE DONT ALLOW THEM (pointed) CHILDREN, the way she said it as like I had an alien with me! Even my mum was taken back who is the most polite person in the world. Sorry but itâs a no from me in the future, Iâve never (obviously) been in with my alien before, always friends and family but not again with that attitude towards people. Itâs very EXTREMELY lovely towards dogs may I add, big board saying âAll dogs welcome, friends Humans also welcomeâ just donât mention anything about small humans! Anyways, NOT family friendly and I doubt even more so friendly at all any more! Avoid that woman and giving her...
Read moreAfter disappointment at another pub - âdog friendlyâ but we were unable to eat as dog-friendly area was separate - we looked elsewhere and thankfully happened upon The Crown Inn. Their display outside - âdog friendly, children unfriendlyâ - was funny and a good sign from the start! A standard busy Saturday night, it was loud and rowdy, but we didnât wait long to find a free spot. They allow food outside in the beer garden too, if there hadnât been space inside. We all ordered pie as itâs pie week, and the âFree Rangerâ pie I had - chicken and ham hock with leek - was delicious. And I chose a side of bbq beans, which I was curious about, and they were very tasty. Really good hearty food. Despite how busy it was, there was lovely attentive service. The staff and crowd alike are welcoming and friendly. And as an added bonus they have free treats in a jar on the bar to give to dogs! Will definitely...
