Today I visited Marmadukes a hidden coffee shop in the heart of the city center of Sheffield , it is located on Cambridge Street a 1 minute walk from the Moor. I found this location when I was trying to find a short cut to West Street and may I say it did not disappoint. The staff were incredibly polite and attentive to every detail, as you walk in the smell of the fresh baked goods wraps around your senses in the best possible way. The appearance of the buns and the breads honestly so temptingā¦š¤š They have a variety of options from cookies to pastries to brownies honestly you name it they most likely have it wether it is sweet or salty. In my opinion the prices are suitable, for the portions you are getting ,you are definitely paying and getting your money worth! They have free wifi inside which is very fast so if you are looking for somewhere with a good internet location this is your place! On the top floor, to your right you will be able to observe an area with sockets so you are able to charge your electric devices may you need to do so. Needless to say the high ceilings and the modern rustic decor make this feel incredibly cousy and comfortable . I personally would advise if coming in for a good study session , use the upstairs area as if tends to be less busy āŗļø Overall experience 10/10 would recommend and will be...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThought we would try out a local coffee shop but will never go in again. Terrible service, was told off for sitting at a table for 6 people when there were 6 of us !!!!!!! Had one of the tables taken off us which left 2 people just sat holding their coffees in their hands. We then tried to move a small coffee table over so the 2 people left with cups of hot coffee in their hands, had somewhere to place them. The same patronising member of staff proceeded to say ācome on guys, would you move furniture in someoneās houseā. What was laughable was that the table he moved to sit a group of 4 was then occupied by only 2 people leaving us with no table. I have never been spoken to in this manner. There are more appropriate ways of asking customers if they would mind giving up a table to allow more availability. We were planning on having a pastry with another drink, however the member of staff, sadly made us feel that unwelcome we went to another...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYet to have a pleasant interaction with the staff here. Relatively pricey, takes about 15 minutes to make one drink when the cafe is virtually empty, and the staff always seem resentful that youāre there? I donāt know why this is a theme with this particular cafe (though the other Marmadukeās do have something similar going on) but their staff attitude is always really off. I asked for a hot chocolate, and when they accidentally called out a mocha I asked nicely if they were definitely sure it was a hot chocolate after all, since Iām allergic to coffee. They replied with āMocha, hot chocolate, whatever. Itās a HOT CHOCOLATE okay?ā This is so shocking to me since Iāve worked in cafes before and itās so much more effort to be rude than kind, and it would be a pretty severe outcome for me if they got it wrong? Just really disappointed by this place, I wont be going...
