Six years ago I left this place a five star review having been a big fan of the place for several years prior to that. It really has gone downhill based on the last few visits.
The Sichuan food used to be great.
I almost always order the same Sichuan tofu dish as a big plate rice and they have always done it until today when they accepted my order and then came back ten minutes later to tell me that I couldn't have it and would have to buy separate items meaning excessive food and greater cost, I reluctantly accepted as I really wanted it over the other Sichuan options.
After a fairly long wait, by their standards, I received my food although my friend had to wait a few more minutes for his. The waitress realised his was wrong as she put it down - he chose to accept it rather than wait longer as he was really hungry and there was little suggestion of fast replacement with what had been ordered. My dish was lacking the authenticity it once had and missing key ingredients.
A waitress tried to clear whilst we were still eating.
We were kept waiting ages for the bill and in this time I was able to see how inefficiently the staff were working, not using trays for drinks or dropping bills off on the way to see other tables for example.
In the end I had to shout out and ask for the bill again, it was brought, we had the cash ready and they didn't collect it so in the end I gave up and handed it someone saying I wanted the change. Obviously I had to wait for the change. It didn't justify a tip!
Other observations...
I saw a table of Asian people sending food back and getting replacement food.
An elderly gentleman was brought in by his daughter in a wheelchair and she got no help with moving chairs or fitting him in.
Delivery drivers were ignored or not acknowledged well.

Read moreAs a Californian who grew up on Chinese cuisine, it's hard to find good Chinese in Sheffield. I've been recommended a few places that were pretty awful. I'd heard of Noodle Inn and was hopeful, but as I live pretty far out and don't have a car, I'd not had a chance to visit yet. Thankfully my friend, who's vegan, took me last night. I ordered har gao dumplings and an off-menu item - ho fun noodles w/ prawns, veggies, and added pak choi, in oyster sauce. It was delicious (tho I'd have liked a few more prawns, I think I got 5 or 6). Not too much sauce, as many places catering to anglo customers do. Just enough flavor, and cooked well. I myself prefer my noodles a little more browned, but they were fine. Lots of pak choi, tho I'd have liked more of the regular mixed vegetables they use in everything.
It was such a huge plate I had to take half home, and I'm not complaining as it was a delicious lunch! I'll definitely be back to try something else. My friend was easily able to find a vegan dish, which she also loved. It also looked + smelled delectable.
Our server Joy (?spelling?) was delightful and very helpful. That's not always the case in the UK so I appreciate it. It just makes the dining experience more enjoyable.
It's also accessible, unlike the majority of restaurants here, so now I know I can come back when using my wheelchair (I use a cane when getting a ride but must use chair when on my own) which makes me very happy. So glad to have found a great restaurant I can actually easily get into. However, I didn't check to see if the toilet was accessible, but...
Read moreI have been a loyal and regular customer of Noodle Inn Chesterfield Road for over twelve years, I have seen staff come and go, I’ve seen chiefs come and go but unfortunately the food produced more recently is the worst it has ever been. The dishes used to be a good representation of Cantonese food, delicious, seasoned with care and presented by professional staff. Unfortunately my recent visits have not been happy ones, the food is no longer authentic, over salted, tough meat, gloopy sauces in dishes that don’t have sauce, heavily fatty noodles that are supposed to be delicate, non seafood special fried rice that contained seafood, special fried rice should contain reasonable sized chicken, charsu pork and vegetables, this dish had small pieces of not very much meat and vegetables, as such was not an authentic dish. When complaining about the food the staff are defensive and rude saying that “ this is how we make it, if you wanted something different you should have said “ I was charged for a meal I didn’t eat as it was literally inedible and I’m known for eating anything but that food was horrible, I’ve been up most of the night with an upset stomach and need to let you know that after all these years of being a loyal customer I won’t be coming back or bringing any of my family back as my most recent visits have been the worst in Over 12 years, I did attempt to send this message directly but your feedback section of your website is not...
