This is the most horrific excuse of a “Vietnamese” restaurant, I’ve ever encountered. Do not waste your time or money if you’re looking for REAL Vietnamese food. Do not listen to the over reviews, as I did...because most of them have mistaken Vietnamese to Chinese!!!! They are wholly parallel.
First off: The staff - no Vietnamese staff in sight or at least staff that are knowledgeable of any Vietnamese cuisine...I asked about classic Vietnamese dishes and the waiter was clueless as goofy goof. Throughout the whole of my experience I could hear three mandarin speaking staff unprofessionally bantering in the background. One of the waiter kept circling the room like a militant without purpose as it was quiet - very irritating.
The food: Ordered Pho - received a bowl of overloaded MSG with no authentic taste and the audacity of receiving a side of unfresh, shrivelled and OFF veggies! I also order Bun Bo Hue / or spicy vermicelli noodles...which I received on my end: pho broth unmixed with a splodge of chilli oil within it...oh and what else??? My spoon submerged inside the broth - delicious...Regretfully I thought I’d give their “traditional” Vietnamese pancake / Banh Xeo a try, which I found myself to a ‘ShRoVE Tuesday’ pancake stuffed a Chinese oyster stir-fry...it was untraditional as untraditional gets.
So I asked for some hoisin to compliment my food, and I ended up getting charged for it...and I asked for fish sauce which I was given the bloody bottle...and I found it was NOT in date...the waiter did not show a flick of care. I did have a stomach ache from eating here.
Take it from a Vietnamese individual growing up with traditional cuisine...do not eat here unless you fancy a horrid dinner food poisoning and...
Read moreI loved this place, it was heaven for me. But after my experience today...gosh!!!!!!!!! I definitely have to say good bye... Went in for dinner service by myself, was told to wait and while I waited for some time 2 more guest came in and was seated immediately.... Confused to why I wasn't allowed to be seated as there was plenty of space... So I waited for a Lil longer and still no service. So I decided to leave, as I have already been waiting for 10 min and hunger bangs kicking in... While I was at another restaurant where I got a table immediately and my starter came out within minutes.. I decided to call the restaurant and let them know what had happened, and I was told that no such thing happened and I was also told that I was lying and I wasn't allowed to speak to the manager.. What really got me going is the fact they called me a liar.. In "Chinese" when I understand it and speak it.. Just coz I spoke in English doesn't mean I don't understand the language..but I'd still say their food is good... Service hmmm no comments but I'll...

Listen… I’ve eaten a lot of meals in my life – some good, some bad, some that made me question my decisions. But tonight at Saigon 68? This was different. This was spiritual.
The chargrilled beef? Smoky, tender, like it had been kissed by a BBQ angel with impeccable timing. The mixed salt & pepper seafood platter? Honestly, I’d fight my own family for the last prawn. Crispy on the outside, soft and fresh inside – it’s like they’ve weaponised flavour.
Service? Superb. The staff looked at me in a way that said “We’ve seen you fall in love with that squid” – and they were right. The vibe? Relaxed, but with the quiet hum of people clearly having the best meals of their lives without making a scene.
This isn’t just dinner. This is the sort of food that makes you want to write poetry, or at least a strongly worded email to your past self asking why you haven’t been here sooner.
Sheffield, take note: if you haven’t been to Saigon 68, you’re basically living...
