Update:
I was contacted after the poor experience we had & offered a chance to escape from āApartment 9ā. Itās a good, murder mystery themed room & for us, was a good mix of challenges & didnāt feel impossible with just the two of us. Jack, our host, was really nice, quick on the hints & overall a good host!
We did manage to escape within the hour & did enjoy this room far better than the Dragons one.
This room has definitely been a complete opposite experience to the other!! ā
Was very excited to try the dragon room after reading the hype about it online but was left really let down. We were a party of 2 & to be honest, I felt thereās little chance you can succeed with less than 4 people..
There is no tech used at all, a lot of deciphering letters & just a long, tedious task rather than mentally challenging. Lost so much potential. There is not a single element of āsearchingā or āfindingā items to help you escape - its just drawn out puzzles to eat away at your remaining time. You might as well just sit an exam & save yourself Ā£40 odd.
Host was very polite but the method of support is lacking. Left waiting for minutes after requesting help as we were lost - only to be shown a notepad app with some hints being typed (expected a proper hint method & more professional approach than this). We could hear receptionist on a call for the entire hour & didnāt help the immersive or concentration (this was made more frustrating when we left waiting a while for clues)!
Overall, for the over 15 escape rooms weāve done at various places, this ranks the lowest. Not immersive, not interesting & not cheap....
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe did the Zoltan magician room (group of 4) and really enjoyed it. We've done escape rooms quite a few times before and always recommend them for people who fancy something new to try, they are very fun, a great social activity and you'll be back for your next one in no time.
This room had a range of different puzzles (no keys in this one but had the usual combo locks). I enjoyed most of them except one which I found a bit fiddly. No mechanical automatic opening parts which are always my favourite. Puzzles weren't too difficult for us but we did need a few clues to point us with where to start and for times we needed to re -work things. They were enough of a challenge to be fun.
Themeing was okay, it could have been better but definitely not the worst we've seen.
The clue system is very non-intrusive (screen on the wall) which was great for immersion.
The lady on staff was very friendly and saw us into the room quickly.
Location easy to get to, though be aware that it's only staffed when needed so don't be too early for it.
Overall had a great time at Crack the Code and recommend for others, whether you've played escape rooms...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have recently tried the two new rooms and I can say they've been very enjoyable. A lot of thought has been put in making all the puzzles connect and flow through the stories. This makes the whole experience more entertaining as you're not only solving puzzles but you feel like you're part of the stories. Can't recommend enough! They've increased the number of participants to max 7 so if you have a birthday coming up or just wish to hang out with friends, it's a very good idea to try these new rooms and test your team working and problem solving skills. I've also heard some rumours of another room being in the planning stage so you have more options to choose from and something to come back for! I'll...
