We visited 24 South for a date night (along with our 7-year-old) while on holiday in Dartmouth, and it was everything we could have hoped for, and more.
From the moment we arrived, the staff set the tone. Warm, funny, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. They made us feel right at home while still giving the evening a touch of romance.
The food was nothing short of exceptional. We ordered scallops, mussels, the soup of the day, fish and chips, and a pizza for our son. Every dish was mouthwatering. I’ve eaten mussels in 30+ restaurants around the world, and these were the best I’ve ever had, by miles. The scallops were cooked to perfection, the soup was rich and flavourful, and the fish was perfectly crispy. Our son devoured his pizza and still had room for chocolate ice cream, which he enjoyed thoroughly.
A perfectly paired bottle of white wine accompanied the meal, while we soaked in the stunning views of the sun setting over the River Dart. An unforgettable backdrop.
24 South has somehow achieved the rare balance of being both romantic and family-friendly, making it a gem for couples, families, or anyone wanting an outstanding dining experience. We left full, happy, and already planning our return.
An absolute must-visit...
Read moreWas struggling to find a table anywhere with the food festival on, but managed to score a table at this adorable little restaurant. We were incredibly lucky! My partner had always wanted to try Oysters so we traveled especially for them. I made a reservation and asked in the notes if they could inform us if there was no oysters. I had a very friendly response in minutes. Staff were incredibly friendly and genuine. We had a 4 plate of Oysters, followed by the smaller duck pizza, and then another 2 oysters. The battered samphire was very interesting and I adore the pickled onions. The oysters and the pizza were lovely. I was too excited to take a photo of the first plate of Oysters or the full pizza 🤤. Staff helped stagger our food, allowed us to order more and helped with drinks. Would definitely recommend. It's a gorgeous...
Read moreI visited on Friday 11th March 2022 for dinner and it was lovely. Although the menu may look small, there's a good level of variety and also daily specials. We had the scallops and "specials board" hake and both were delicious. I visited again on Sunday 13th, for lunch this time, to try the pizza. The base was covered in a layer of flour which dried it out a little but it was still a nice meal and I would have it again. We were able to walk in both times with it being out of season but was advised by the lovely owner that they book up fast for summer so you're better booking in advance. Also they have outdoor seating by the river in summer which I look forward to trying out. Overall a lovely experience and I will definitely...
