I booked in very last minute to stay while attending an event in town. I didn't have high expectations - since it was the last available room, at the height of summer and in a very busy spot, but I just needed somewhere to lay my head, so wasn't too fussed. Honestly, I was so impressed with everything! The lady who checked me in was SO sweet (I think called Georgia?) - carried my bag, showed me all the ropes and bought up some milk so I could have a coffee in the peace of my room, before heading out. My room (Beaty) was adorable, and everything you'd want from a rustic, historic Devon building. Being the hottest day of the year, I expected to get little sleep, but found an air conditioning unit in the wardrobe. It didn't 'cool' exactly, but did blow air around well, like a big fan. The bed was incredibly comfortable, I had to prise myself out of it come morning but could have lounged for hours happily. Breakfast (included in the room charge) was delicious and very, very generous. I got the veggie breakfast and it was all cooked beautifully. There was also juice and continental options available to help yourself. I had asked for an early check in and late check out, both of which were not a problem, and actually (accidentally) arrived even earlier than my early check in slot and my room was all ready for me. A stroke of luck! The little touches were so thoughtful: individually portioned ground coffee in the room, special wipes to remove make up, locally sourced soaps and they packed me off with a 'goody bag' of local fudge and water, for my day ahead. All in all, I highly recommend.

We had a family holiday in Dartmouth and came across with this lovely place where we dined in. First off all the place is the cutest restaurant ever! Definitely coming back and booking a room too! Second of all the staff were very pleasant. Nathan our waiter was very friendly, very helpful, nothing was to much trouble for him! And last but not least the food was absolutely amazing! My children had fish and chips and wiped their plates clean, my husband had lamb kofta which he loved and I had burger, which was the best burger I ever had! Haven't even mentioned yet their sticky toffee pudding with salted caramel ice cream and clotted cream! Would recommend this place 100%!

Stayed here for only two nights, and wished we were staying longer! The staff were so friendly and helpful; the reception and wait staff were wonderful both morning and evening, and the cleaning staff were so kind. The location is unbeatable, and the food was delicious. Our room was the Nelson Suite, and we loved it. (Fair warning: we were 4 adults in the two-room suite, and it was definitely cozy. If we were to come back, we'd probably book two separate rooms. Also know that in this very old building there are plenty of stairs, and no elevator.) TL;DR - You'd be hard-pressed to find a more wonderful place to stay in Dartmouth. We can't wait to come back!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Bayards Cove Inn in Dartmouth and I cannot recommend it enough. From the moment we arrived, the staff were kind, welcoming, and went above and beyond to make our stay unforgettable.

The first thing that impressed us was the level of thought and care put into accommodating our furry friend. Not only did they enthusiastically welcome our dog, but they provided a dog bed, treats, a ball, and even poop bags. It's rare to find such a pet-friendly establishment that truly understands the needs of both pets and their owners.

The room we stayed in was incredibly nice and spacious. The decor was tasteful and created a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The bed was exceptionally comfortable, ensuring a restful night's sleep. The attention to detail was evident throughout the entire room, and it truly felt like a home away from home.

Beyond the accommodations, the service we received was outstanding. The staff members were attentive, knowledgeable, and always available to assist with any request or question we had. Their warmth and genuine care made us feel valued and well taken care of throughout our stay.

One of the highlights of our visit was the food at Bayards Cove Inn. The meals were of exceptional quality and delicious. The menu offered a variety of options, showcasing fresh, locally sourced ingredients. Whether it was breakfast, lunch, or dinner, we were constantly impressed by the flavors and presentation of the dishes. Dining at the Inn was truly a culinary delight.

Overall, our experience at Bayards Cove Inn exceeded our expectations in every way. The kindness, welcoming atmosphere, delicious food, and spacious accommodations made our stay memorable and enjoyable. We have already made plans to return and cannot wait to visit again. If you are looking for a charming and pet-friendly inn in Dartmouth, I highly recommend...

We walked in on speck looking for an evening meal, nothing booked, and they were full. But the member of staff, Sara, made us feel so welcome that we stayed at a small high table by the bar that was laid for dinner. Boy I'm glad we did, great starters, I had a haddock fishcake and the other ½ had the squid. I had a main, that was billed 'with olives' that had more olives than you would get in 2 bowls from your average a supermarket (you may have guessed, I love olives) fantastic! Afters was great too. Then Sara rang round all the cab firms looking for a cabs (on a busy Bank Holiday) too. The other male staff were superb as well. If you are staying here for a night, I don't know anything about the rooms, but I do know that the staff will look after you. And if you are in Dartmouth on a busy Bank Holiday Monday night, when all of the other restaurants are too up themselves to open, look no further. And make...
