I went for lunch today with a friend! Firstly the atmosphere was so beautiful! Chilled, elegant vibe! No rushing or banging of cutlery! We had the set menu at £18 for 2 course! Absolutely gorgeous pea & mint soup! So smooth & silky! Probably the best soup I've ever had! The main was the steak cooked to perfection! We also had the courgette in tempura which was so light and only £4 a serving! We decided not to have a dessert as we were so full! I really can't wait to go back again! Mildreds Bistro really has put the william cecil on the map! This place is totally worth a visit! & they do a cocktail hour!

Disappointing. Food very average. Expensive for portion sizes. Service also disappointing - not very attentive or knowledgable. £12.50 for 3 very small scallops (not caramelised) £24 for a pork ‘chop’ with 2 ‘slivers’ of cavolo nero Feel there are much better options in Stamford

Lovely restaurant with great food, cozy atmosphere and great staff. Food is not only tasty but beautifully presented. The two stand out dishes were actually on the small plates (whipped feta and teriyaki cauliflower).

Very disappointed with this organisations efforts today. Price is not the driving factor when we visit anywhere because if the service and food is top notch it's about individual's perception of value. Atmosphere a little strange with live music today mixed with music on their sound system so one drowns out the other. When coupled with a barman throwing empty used bottles into a bin under the bar and dropping both trays and drinks on a bar with little to no subtly only adds to the experience. Service with a snarl is how I would explain our experience. Yes very polite, but if challenged it was treated with distaste and a dismissive response so not what one would expect. Case in point, on arrival a Gin-an-Tonic was ordered and after 20 minutes with nothing arriving apart from a pre made starter, when one asked about its whereabouts to said barman, the response was met by a 'it's not arrived on my ticket so it's not been made' not an initial apology and recognition of any inconvenience and a gesture of it would be removed if the bill. Meal arrived on one large plate with no serving utensils - it's seems we had to operate a free for all. The belly pork was frankly something's else, all I can say about this undercooked offering it was more belly than pork and frankly the worst I've ever eaten. So £120 later for three people and only late GNT was at best comedic. My favourite point of note was the automatic £14 added service charge for what they feel must be a good customer experience - through my end of the service telescope it was akin to poorly trained operation that on all levels must try harder. As a Stamford resident, I was just pleased we could drop into Pizza Mario on our walk home for coffee and tiramisu at its best. My advice, all front no back end and with plenty of choice in Stamford and the surrounding village spend you hard earned cash elsewhere until this set...

I have had two poor occasions with food here. The first was a lunchtime salad. I asked for blue cheese dressing. The salad came with a disproportionate amount of seaweed and no dressing , only a huge amount of blue cheese. These were both over the top. In the evening my husband and I were in the dining room for our meal. We both ordered off the uninspired menu, ordering cod on a bed of mash potato with spinach with mussels. The mussels were over cooked and my cod was the tail end. The cod was very thin and the whole dish was lacking any favor or interest. The waiter never came back to check if our meals were fine, there were only two other dining in the restaurant so time was not an issue. When he did come to collect the plates he asked how it was. I told exactly what I have written above as he wanted my feedback to give to the chef. A few minutes later he came back with desert menus without offering any explanation or apology for the food. Note to manager: complaints are free market research, most don't complain they just...

Restaurant is in a beautiful setting and the ambiance is lovely. Sadly the service and food wasn’t quite up to scratch.

We were asked if we were ready to order and then waited 15 minutes for a waitress to come. The starter (octopus) was delicious but we had to ask for the wine that we had ordered to drink with it to be served. We had been advised against ordering side dishes by the waitress who told us that the portions were large. My husband was very disappointed with his plate - a medium cut of meat with 3 very stringy ‘string beans’. Again, the wine that we had pre-ordered arrived half way through the meal.

This was a very expensive meal that could have been improved...
