Arrived at 10.15pm to be immediately told before we even had a chance to order our drinks that they were calling last orders soon. The most rude welcome we have ever experienced. We placed our order to the disgruntled barman. Went to sit outside and before we had even barely touched our drinks the same rude barman came outside and barged over to our table and reiterated their last orders and told us we could have paper cups instead of our lovely crystal glasses. There were plenty of other customers with large pints and more drinks than us yet he never offered them paper cups. We reiterated we did not want another drink and wanting to just finish the drink we had. Finally he went away and then another barman stormed over to us and us alone to repeat the same, at this stage we point we had almost finished our drinks ,we then said we were unhappy that we were singled out as the second barman again didn't approach any other tables but ours, and again other tables still had pints and plenty of drinks and some were very inebriated.we felt very uncomfortable and will not return or recommend. In all the years we have been in Stamford where everyone is so welcoming and friendly this establishment and rude staff are really letting a lovely night...

Dined in with a few friends, won't do that again. food isn't reasonably priced or good, looking at £15+ plus for a burger, which would be justified if it was actually good. Those in my party who ordered a burger found them bland, dry, and just not worth it and didn't finish them. I got a side for 2, this was £10 and tasted alright. The waiter seemed personally offended that I didn't know what drink I wanted yet. I hadn't decided so simply asked if they could take my drink order when they come for the food order. Which apparently is a cardinal mistake. When we were served the waiter didn't even know what they were handing, the waiter just said he didn't know and left. Kind of funny but if you have allergies or something that'll probably be unsettling. didn't have people come over so when friends wanted more drinks had to go the bar.

Overall, wouldn't recommend unless you enjoy spending unreasonable amounts of money on mediocre food. On a positive the physical environment is nice, apart from the...

Went for Sunday lunch. The atmosphere is retro industrial, pleasant and relaxed. The staff were friendly and thoughtful, which was also reflected in the cooking.

I ordered sea bass, expecting gastro pub standard. It was cooked to perfection with a crisp skin and soft flakey flesh. The basmati rice was also just right, with a subtle herb flavouring I couldn't place, and it was served with a mango pickle that I thought wouldn't work, but was a brilliant accompaniment - delicately citrous without being too acidic.

The chicken for two was huge and succulent, and the veggie burger a big improvement on Quorn or TVP.

There was a good selection of smaller dishes, with a slightly over spiced prawn and scallops amongst them, and if you get there before midday there's also a brunch menu.

Prices were between £13 and £17 for a main, and £3 to £8 for the...

I’ve come here a few times for the past two years and I’ve enjoyed myself every single time I’ve been. The food is always delicious and exquisitely presented. I came earlier today with a friend and we were both very happy with how timely our meals came. I ordered the lamb kofta for my starter and then the daal aloo gobi pie. Credits to the chef for a delicious and tasteful meal! I thoroughly enjoyed it! My friend has the chicken wings for her starter and proceeded with the coconut chicken noodle bowl which she said was delicious and it did look wonderful! (My meal photos are included). Presentation of all dishes were superb as was the quality of food and the flavours. Thank you! Will definitely be back again.

We came to Paten & Co for our anniversary and had a brilliant meal. I had the BBQ Braised Brisket which was so soft, tender and full of flavour, and the fondant potato it came with was really good too. My partner went for the Chicken & Ham Pie which was packed with meat, really tasty and the chicken and ham just fell apart. The chips were perfect as well – crispy outside and fluffy in the middle. Service was just slightly let down as the toilets were out of order (so you had to pop to The Crown next door) and things were a touch on the slow side, but it honestly didn’t take away from the food, the atmosphere, or the overall experience. A lovely spot and definitely somewhere we’d recommend in Stamford.

Wandering around Stamford wondering at the amazing aray of historic stone buildings I came across this slim fronted restaurant that opened up into a delightful Aladdin's Cave. It was a lovely day so sat in the slim outside eating area. Had a nice welcome, the menu was interesting and unusually for me I chose a vegetarian dish which was delicious but I didn't make a note of it's name. It was like a cheese pie encased in pastry on a mash of beetroot, spinach and potatoes with a pot of creamy melted cheese on the side. A deffinate call if I find myself again in Stamford.
