Monday lunchtime visit on a pleasant day with husband. Went in to ask about food/specials and told to go and find a seat and waitress said she’d come and take our order. Sat and waited 5 mins and then she went straight over to a large table of 8 still sitting themselves down. Wasn’t impressed! Went in to order and told man at bar why I had come to order at bar. Drinks came promptly and food came in a reasonable time as well for a relaxed lunch. Had quiche, chips and salad (salad was actually a tiny garnish disappointingly as would rather have salad than the large portion of chips). Large table of 8 waited absolutely ages for their drinks and were just receiving their food when we were leaving so I was very glad I ordered at the bar. Found staff polite but very young and not overly observant of their patrons. Had to wave waitress back over to ask for salt, vinegar and ketchup. Wasn’t asked if we wanted anything else. Nice enough but I have to say we wouldn’t go again as there are plenty of nicer places to eat...
Read moreWe were staying on the campsite Eye Kettleby Lakes at Melton Mowbray and decided to have a day out at Stamford. Wanted to have a look around The Nook and get a new pair of reading glasses. Came across the Golden Fleece as we wanted some lunch. A fantastic pub, lovely friendly efficient staff and dog friendly. Nice decor and ambiance. We shared a baguette with sausage and onion filling, a portion of chips, a large Chardonnay and half a pint of Madri. The food was great as were the prices, £20🤗. We were moving onto Ferry Meadows at Peterborough and I really fancied going, tonight, but Barry has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and cannot muster up the energy 😢. Wish we had the Golden...
