We were staying on the campsite Eye Kettleby Lakes at Melton Mowbray and decided to have a day out at Stamford. Wanted to have a look around The Nook and get a new pair of reading glasses. Came across the Golden Fleece as we wanted some lunch. A fantastic pub, lovely friendly efficient staff and dog friendly. Nice decor and ambiance. We shared a baguette with sausage and onion filling, a portion of chips, a large Chardonnay and half a pint of Madri. The food was great as were the prices, £20🤗. Outside they were playing Northern Soul music. A couple of ladies were shuffling to it, I so wanted to join in. Friday night was “Soul train”. We were moving onto Ferry Meadows at Peterborough and I really fancied going, tonight, but Barry has just been diagnosed with terminal cancer and cannot muster up the energy 😢. Wish we had the Golden Fleece in Lincoln.

I was advised that the roast dinner here was good.. as i review a lot i thought ill read the reviews.. 99%positive. Right off i went..its oldy worldy atmosphere and decour its a proper pub. No uniforms only people.i ordered roast pork and was not disappointed. Loads of meat lots of trimmings cauliflower cheese ,cabbage, carrots ,Wow it tasted amazing .home cooked tasty well seasoned and a feast. Absolutely will be back.. 2 small negatives. 1 the waitress thru my dinner on the table and not a word.. and there wasnt enough crackling.which was so tasty. But the lady at the counter said .you should have asked me and more would have been brought.. overall 9.out of ten for food. Highly recommended.ive eaten a lotof roasts in 58 years. This was good ..

This is a lovely country pub with character decoration, bar and extensive outside seating area. For those in and out of the area I'd highly recommend a visit here. Claire was amazing. She's bubbly, friendly and full of character. Her attentiveness to our dietary requirements was second to none and we felt safe and confident knowing the food was going to be well catered for... Speaking of which, the food, simply put was phenomenal. This has been one of the best meals out I've ever had! A right little Gem in Stamford.

Monday lunchtime visit on a pleasant day with husband. Went in to ask about food/specials and told to go and find a seat and waitress said she’d come and take our order. Sat and waited 5 mins and then she went straight over to a large table of 8 still sitting themselves down. Wasn’t impressed! Went in to order and told man at bar why I had come to order at bar. Drinks came promptly and food came in a reasonable time as well for a relaxed lunch. Had quiche, chips and salad (salad was actually a tiny garnish disappointingly as would rather have salad than the large portion of chips). Large table of 8 waited absolutely ages for their drinks and were just receiving their food when we were leaving so I was very glad I ordered at the bar. Found staff polite but very young and not overly observant of their patrons. Had to wave waitress back over to ask for salt, vinegar and ketchup. Wasn’t asked if we wanted anything else. Nice enough but I have to say we wouldn’t go again as there are plenty of nicer places to eat...
