Usually have a decent meal here but it pretty much all fell apart on Friday evening. We ordered online using their own Website. We then received an email informing us it would be 1 hour from the time of ordering. Not ideal, as it was my birthday but we’d been out during the day- so cooking a meal wasn’t something we wanted to do.
An hour came and went. At 1 hour 30 mins I called the restaurant to see where it was- I was told that the delivery driver had already left but to be honest I’m not sure I was convinced. I wasn’t talked to politely and was made to feel like I was an inconvenience for calling. The food then turned up a further 12-15 mins from then. So we’d waited nearly 2 hours!!!
We quickly unpacked the food as we were extremely hungry. The onion bahjis were at best tepid- as was the rest of the food. I personally only ate the veg dhansak which was really poor. The veg consisted on a handful of frozen peas, sweetcorn, carrots and cabbage stalk!!! Nothing authentic here. The sauce was a good thickness but had no sharpness from citrus as it should- after all this is what signifies a dhansak. All the food had to be ‘zapped’ in the microwave to bring it up to a reasonable eating temperature.
We were leaving early on the Saturday morning and because when I’d called before to see when it was going to arrive; it had taken a while to answer the phone- so I didn’t feel calling them would do much. It was also commented that if they were to send another meal was it going to take another 2 hours!!! So as we were so hungry we just ate what we could and most of it was thrown away. Even though we all had to leave Saturday morning super early, I sent an email to the restaurant.
By Monday I thought I might have heard something from them- it was then I noted that a non delivery email had gone to my junk mailbox. So I found the email on their website and sent it there; originally I’d replied to the email from the restaurant telling me my order was going to be an hour.
Later this evening I received a call from them. Eventually they agreed to refund me for the dhansak & onion bhajis but not the rest of the meal- despite it ALL arriving nearly 2 hours from them, having to hear it up in a microwave etc. I felt I certainly wasn’t listened to and when I discussed what was in the dhansak and that I’d been to India 5 times so knew exactly what it should taste like I was created by sarcastic comments from the man who stated he was the manager. This restaurant certainly doesn’t want customers to contact them when things go wrong despite what they say. All they kept repeating was they’d refund me for the onion bhajis & dhansak but not the rest of the food; despite it being tepid and also nearly 2 hours after I ordered it!
Poor standard of delivery, Poor food & very poor...
Read moreSo me and my family have loved your currys for years it's been a family tradition for us on Christmas Eve to get your delicious curries every year. We do get your currys other times as well and are always delicious and worth every penny! Well not yesterday on the 24th March we ordered are usual I ordered a Chicken Jalfrezi with no veggies only because I am a fussy eater and will only eat certain vegetables and fruit. So we were told it was plain with just the sauce and chicken in it which is good until we opened it up at home! When we opened the food up my curry was covered in veggies it was disappointing that they didn't make it plain! So I had to have only a few bits of dried chicken soaked in a plate of rice that made the chicken even more dry which kept giving me indigestion and made me feel so uncomfortable eating it . I had eaten a small bit whilst having left a box full of curry sauce covered in veggies, a naan bread but no sauce to dip it in and 2 poppadoms with nothing to scoop up on it. I was so disappointed and upset with this by the time we realised my curry wasn't plain my family's food was already getting cold so I would of taken it back but I didn't want my family's food to be ruined. I must say usually your 9 out of 10 with food especially since last time we had your curries I ordered the Jalfrezi on Christmas Eve asked for it plain and it was so not sure why this time it wasn't? I was very dissapointed and upset with yesterdays order and shocked! I will order from here again and would recommend others to try this curry place but please make sure if you have allergies or like me picky on certain food then please double make sure they make your curries the way you ordered it whether you have to keep asking if they mess it up over and over or you sitting there for an extra hour or two I...
Read moreI've lived in Wallingford for almost 10 years, and I LOVE Indian food - I have had literally hundreds from all over the country. When I first moved here, this restaurant wasn't bad (although not brilliant) but was by far the best of the 3 in the town. However, over the last couple of years, this has gone completely downhill. I've generally stopped going here because of this, and because the service leaves a lot to be desired. However, I went with a friend last night to see if it had improved. Sorry to say that there's a very good reason why the place was empty on a Saturday night - this was the WORST curry I've had for as long as I can remember. I ordered a chicken dhansak (and a side dish, which they forgot!). The chicken was as tough as old boots - absolutely horrible. The sauce was like a very bland soup, not at all as a dhansak should be cooked (and trust me, I know). The chef had attempted to mask the flavours by throwing in extra whole chillies, but it didn't work.
I will simply never go back and suggest you save yourself the experience and go for a Chinese or...
