Visited Mint Lounge this weekend and I was pleasantly surprised. They served exceptional, traditional, authentic fresh Punjabi food. Salmon tikka starter - flavoursome, moist and soft, excellent presentation. Rara Paneer for main as recommended and it was divine! Their paneer was not pre-made, but actually made fresh on site and you could tell because it was pillowy soft. Chicken tikka main - lush, flavoursome, melt in the mouth chicken. Everything had the perfect amount of spice. Southampton doesn't actually have many real Punjabi North Indian cuisine restaurants. Most claim to be Punjabi, but are actually Bengali and their cuisine is watered down to suit the local palate. Whereas this place serves up real Punjabi cuisine. I'm delighted to have discovered this little gem because since we moved from London we had been struggling to find a decent Punjabi restaurant down South. Mint Lounge is now our favourite and I cannot wait to go back. Compliments to the chef, great food and to the staff who...
Read moreWow. The host was incredibly polite and attentive. It was bright enough to see what you’re eating and the decor is quintessentially Indian. We liked the vibe when we went in. It was quiet but the music was good (an r&b Indian fusion) very vibey. The menu selection is fantastic with the classic favourites and regional chefs delicacies. The service was quick even though everything is cooked freshly. And you can tell. The chef even came out to greet us as we went in early (about 6pm) and we could choose our table which was great. The food was really clean and delicious, and an absolute pleasure to consume. The starters were very good and we tied things we haven’t had before which were delicious. The traditional and speciality mains were mouth watering and the desserts were fantastic too. We overordered and took the rest home to enjoy the next day. Thank you for a...
Read moreWe decided to eat out after my sons swimming lessons on a Friday night. Place is close to home and location is familiar to us. We were promptly seated on arrival as it wasn't busy. We found the staff polite and friendly. The restaurant was clean and looked well maintained.
We ordered lamb biriyani, some fish, chicken starters, paneer, naan bread and a kids meal. Food was served on a super hot plate. My son says his kids meal was scrumptious, mouth watering and delicious. The fish and chicken starters were particularly enjoyable. The biriyani was good but different to what we are normally used to (South Indian style). So not something I would try again. We felt the portion sizes were just perfect.
The chef and other staff regularly checked on us to ensure we had a good time.
Well done to the team and we will highly recommend...
