Highly-rated indicated to us that it was worth experiencing and in looking forward to experiencing a independent restaurant owned by a local person, we were given a table in this impressive venue.
Unfortunately, the wow decor did not repeat itself with the service as we sat for quite some time, awaiting attention, for our food order to be taken or a drinks order to taken, or for any sort of acknowledgement from the waiting staff. In the end, I caught the eye of a bartender who then told one of her colleagues to pay attention to serve us.
Once the meal was over - and glasses remained empty on the table, we sat again, for longer this time, awaiting attention. Many times I caught the eye of various servers with one too busy with a tooth pick shoved in her mouth (yes you read that correctly) than to ask if we might like another drink (we would have done) or if we'd like to see the dessert menu (we would have done).
Finally, after no attention whatsoever to bring in more revenue for themselves from us, I asked for the bill. Now here it becomes even odder. I attended the counter because I wished for the 10% service removed. Being peered at like one was from outer space is to expected when staff are not trained in service nor etiquette. 'This is not possible' I was told. 'Yes it is' I replied. The manager was called and I discreetly repeated the same story (one shouldn't have to do this). No effort to understand why or how this situation occured, the 10% was then removed. I recommended the manager looked on the cameras and dissect what went wrong as it would be plain to see.
The entire waiting team failed on a basic level. Students or not, this is a service role. Fancy facade and fancy food let down by poor...

The restaurant itself is beautifully decorated, creating an inviting and authentic atmosphere that makes you feel as though you’re dining in Japan. The sashimi is exceptionally fresh, and each dish is presented with artistic flair, showcasing the chef’s attention to detail.
Not only is the food delicious, but the service is also top-notch. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and happy to offer recommendations if you’re unsure what to choose. The ramen is hearty and comforting, with rich broths and perfectly cooked noodles. Every bite is a delight!

Read moreUnexpected, piping hot and well-presented Ramen and warm Sake on a cold autumn evening? Say no more. Very efficient service, perhaps too much so - in and out in less than an hour… delicious Tempura and pork Ramen. Bowl bigger than my damn head and a top shelf broth. The Sake was served traditionally and at perfect temperature, yet a little overpriced for what it was thus turning an off-the-cuff supper into a near £80 meal for two and leaving an edge of feeling I probably won’t return. But this is entirely on me… nobody forced me to order the sake. Perhaps this is my wake up call? No more sake… Ahh that’s not true - I’m going to order some on Amazon, right now. Overall, a really cool spot, good food and a nice...
