I have now tried to visit the establishment twice without any luck. Both times I was met by a really rude hostess. The first time I tried to take my in-laws there for a lunch but was told there is no space for us. We noticed there was a waiting list but was not offered to be added.
Today I tried to take my friend and her little girl for a treat. Again I was met by the same rude hostess as the first time.
Today she advised they are full at the moment and took our details to be added to a waiting list and was told the wait would be around 20 minutes.
We asked it was possible to wait inside as it was cold out and was told no. We walked around and waited for the call.
We missed the call around 25 minutes later and almost immediately tried to phone back as we were walking back. We were just in Peacocks, but no one answered.
When we got to the establishment, we could see the rude hostess look at us, disappear to the kitchen and came back again. One girl told us she is setting our table and it should not be to long. Not even a minute later the rude hostess came out and I overheard her telling another staff member to tell us our table was gone as we didn't answer the phone and she cannot give us food. The poor girl came over saying she phoned 3 times and our table was gone. They did not phone three times and when we told her that and advised we tried to phone back with no answer, she started to get rude and flustered.
Needless to say we could see two tables open in the establishment. We then just said thank you but we will leave and left with a very hungry little girl.
This was really unprofessional and we will definitely not be back! Coming from a small town ourselves and working in the service industry, we wanted to support a local business, but both me and my friend felt unwelcome and was treated with disrespect. I truly hope the owner will have a look into their staff and the way they treat people as this not a great way to treat people.
Unfortunately you lost two...
Read moreI have had All Things "Nice" on my list of places to visit for over a year and today was the day my friend, myself and little girl made the trip to Marple. Only to be met by a very rude hostess with an attitude that made us feel unwelcome. We were put on a waiting list due to no availability and when I asked if we could wait inside at the bar - I was told no because it was booked. My little girl was cold waiting outside and we then left to find a warm place. I received a call and missed it, I called back within 5 minutes and no one answered. We were back at All Things "Nice" within a minute. We were welcomed with more attitude and told there was no food/table, because we missed the call. Surely if we were told to go away, it will take time to walk back and 6 minutes from missing the call to being back (as well as me trying to call back to say we are on our way) is not a long enough grace period.
The team look flustered and like they were rushed off their feet, which is surprising as the cafe does not have that many tables inside and no one was sat outside. I seat and serve triple the amount of customers in my cafe on my own, so, I do not understand what was going on and why the attitude of team was negative.
No one else was on the waiting list before or after us and I saw the list when I returned. No one was sat on the seats I had asked to sit at either when we returned. No offering was made for us to wait inside to keep warm - no courtesy or effort shown from the hostess to offer us to wait by the window where the pastries are placed. There was enough space for us to wait there.
I have travelled and lived all around the world and today was the WORST experience. The effort you put on your social media vs the reality - your hostess is letting your business down and you have lost...
Read moreVisited ATN Marple in early September, on a Monday lunchtime. Marple’s high street was pretty quiet and several businesses closed, but there was quite a queue for tables at All Things Nice - always a good sign! Busy inside and out on the covered terrace, I was amazed how busy it was for a weekday lunchtime. We were shown to a table inside, where there was a real buzz about the place and clearly lots of people, across all age ranges, enjoying their food & drinks. Having arrived at 11.45ish, we were at the tail end of breakfast service, so decided to wait for the lunchtime menu (starts at 12.15pm, breakfast menu ends at 11.55am for a quick kitchen turnaround). Enjoyed a coffee and some people watching, then ordered our food. My son and I both opted for toasted focaccia, and have to say, it’s probably the best focaccia I’ve had, outside of Italy. Perfect consistency, with lovely air pockets throughout, and a pleasant surprise to have it toasted for a change. My son ordered a side of chips, all of which arrived pretty promptly, despite how busy it was. Coffee was excellent, so I had a second one post-meal. Service was attentive but without being intrusive, extra drinks ordered also arrived pretty swiftly. Despite the obvious queue outside for tables even whilst we dined, we never felt rushed, especially as we’d occupied a table for around an hour or so. I’ve since heard the owners have opened a second site in Macclesfield, which is fantastic to hear in the current climate, clearly doing everything right! Will be sure to visit again when we’re in the area, or alternatively may head to Macclesfield instead! Thanks team ATN, we...
