Really disappointed with the food and service at The Locks. We ordered two full english breakfasts with scrambled eggs, a kids breakfast with ribena, and a couple of coffees.
Alarm bells went off for my partner as he placed the order, loaves of bread stored right next to the hand wash station with one of them open. Close enough that had someone washed their hands it would be pretty difficult not to get water on it. Seeing kitchen staff wipe hands on aprons and touching face/hair without washing hands afterwards also seemed pretty unprofessional. The high chair we were given was filthy, we had to wipe it down before using it.
The food arrived in good time but with fried eggs instead of scrambled and very cold mushrooms. We informed the member of staff we'd placed the order with of the mistake and they apologised and said they'd have some scrambled eggs sent to the table. After 20 minutes we had to remind a member of staff about the eggs, our food now mostly cold or eaten we received a bowl of watery eggs that had most likely been microwaved. I asked if that was for two as it seemed like a small amount and they asked if we had order two lots. We also had to remind the staff to bring out the Ribena.
We finished our breakfasts and after 15 minutes the scrambled eggs still hadn't arrived. I did go to the counter to ask if the scrambled eggs were currently being cooked but it became obvious that it had been forgotten again. All the staff disappeared in to the kitchen to check but I gave up by this point and walked out.
The staff seems quite oblivious to the fact that they had let their customers down and ruined what should have been an enjoyable meal.
If we hadn't have paid already then I would have...
Read moreI'm disgusted with the way my elderly mother-in-law was treated today.
She came in and purchased a cake to take home to her husband for his birthday. When she got home, the cake was smashed against the box it was in, and was in no fit state to be presented for a birthday. She brought it back to the shop, looking for something else. She was then argued with and confronted by a member of staff.
My mother-in-law left the cake on the counter and left the shop, without a replacement or refund, and quite upset and shaken by the whole thing. She is in her mid 70's!
They are new to living in Marple, and I'm embarrassed and appalled that this is how she was treated. She's hardly a sharp tongued, cranky old thing. She's such a soft natured grandmother type figure.
I've lived in the area for nearly 9 years. I've been to this place a few times now, but...
Read moreWent in for a nice coffee and breakfast sandwich today, sandwich arrived on dry bread, no offer of butter or sauces, I ate half the sandwich still no coffee, asked a passing waitress if drink was on the way them a different waitress arrived to asked had I ordered a drink! Eventually coffee arrived piping hot and was lovely. Then the real issue arrived which was dogs, no where could I see a sign saying dogs welcome which I would have made me choose a different venue, 3 families arrived all with barking dogs and one which kept coming up to me at my table, not the relaxing morning I had in mind listening to barking dogs. Definitely won’t be returning unless...
