A couple of friends suggested this place (mainly because I'm Italian) so we went on a Sunday lunch (my wife is a church minister so we can never go early).
As we arrive at 15.00, the man (I suppose he's the owner) says "Sorry, it's closed.". And I'm like "Actually, on Google Maps it says it closes at 16.00 with the kitchen closing at 15.30. It is 15.00 now." And he replies: "Eh yes, but you know, these tables here are before you, plus, well you know, cleaning, this and that..."
We're on the edge of a recession.
I would have easily spent more than 60 pounds for lunch with a bottle of wine and coffees after.
I understand it's Sunday and you might be tired, but I've done your job for 20 years and in every single place, if I had turned a customer away with one hour closing time, I'd have been fired.
Perhaps the gentleman had already made enough money with his regulars and didn't need my patronage today.
Genuinely not happy.
I might delete this review once the anger...
Read moreHad some spare time so we went to explore Stockport. Discovered this cafe after looking up the long flights of stairs with a set of tables and chairs in the middle. Went to check it out - the menu looked good and it was busy inside.
We ordered spicy meatballs and mozzarella ciabatta with salad (£4.95), Cajun chicken fillet goujons (£7.60), regular latte (£2.40) and a pot for one tea (£2.20).
Food and drink came swiftly. They were amazing both the flavours and the presentation. My husband was happy that there was a kick to the spicy meatballs and the bread with the cajun chicken was garlic bread. Whilst I loved the cheesiness of the mozzarella and the super soft ciabatta bread. Both were decent portion size at a very reasonable price.
Staff (a family, I assume) were very friendly and attentive.
Highly recommend this place. Their pasta looked very appealing after seeing other people having it. We'll definitely come back to try them...
Read moreLunch date with my wife, The service was good, we were given a reasonable amount of time to view the menu before the front of house man came to take a drink order while we decided what to order. The menu is ample with small to larger meals available, ranging from breakfast to full Italian meals to choose from, the waiting staff went through the specials available soups and mains. The man serving us had a strong accent so wasn't quite sure of a few bits of what was said. No big issue though, we ordered our food which arrived after a short time, the food was well presented and very tasty I had the chicken and bacon mozzarella sandwich with side salad, and a side order of garlic and pepper chips, my wife chose the vegetable soup and had a chicken and bacon w/o mozzarella ciabatta both of us were really pleased with our food. Thank you for a nice meal in a lovely...
