Funky Chicken — Restaurant in Stoke-on-Trent

Second time ordering from here now and I've been let down. First time, I ordered their double zinger burger meals and food was good with large portions which we couldn't finish. Food was delivered hot with the chips nice and fresh - they weren't soggy when delivered. However, I was expecting it to be fresh chicken fillet but it was the frozen chicken fillets that you can buy from local cash & carry shops. I know this as my husband is a butcher & knows when the meat is fresh or frozen ready made cooked so this put me off their zinger burgers. Tonight, we ordered their full peri peri chicken with rice and chips. We collected this order. Hubby said the hygeine standards inside were very poor (don't know how they got 5 star hygeine rating but again that was last year.) The guys making the food didnt look clean nor did the kitchen. Food was just about ok. Rice wasn't soft and had no taste so chucked it away. The peri peri chicken was standard too. They use baby chicken meat to make this. I personally think a medium chicken has more taste as a peri peri. I feel like they give bigger portions to impress customers, but its quality not quantity that matters. Going to stick to Chunky Chicken and Chicos as they can't beat...

My first visit to Funky Chicken was an absolute treat. From the moment I walked in, the friendly and helpful staff made me feel right at home, especially as I am fairly new to the area.

I ordered 10x chicken wings meal & 1x Chicken and beef combo burger meal

We started with the 10x Chicken Wings in medium flavor, and I was blown away. The wings were incredibly tender, coated in a vibrant peri peri sauce that struck the perfect balance of heat and flavor. The chips alongside were perfectly crispy and complemented the wings beautifully.

Next up was the Chicken & Beef Combo burger, a bold choice that did not disappoint. The beef patty was impressively thick and gourmet, while the chicken was juicy and bursting with flavor. Together, they created a mouthwatering harmony that left us wanting more.

My wife said it's the best grilled food she has had from stoke so far since moving to stoke 7 months ago.

First time having from here tonight, thought we'd try somewhere different from our local and what a good choice we made. Firstly, the menu is huge and there is so much to choose from we were lost for choice - everything sounded delicious. The delivery driver was lovely, didn't rush away from the door and didn't just throw the food at me. The food was packed well, not just put into the bag without care. The food was absolutely banging, piping hot and a generous portion. When paying extra for cheese, they didn't just put a tiny bit on like some other places do. The salad tasted and looked very fresh, good amount of sauce and the chicken strips are to die for. My partner had a pizza, there was plenty of toppings and the stuff crust was actually stuffed.
