Utterly terrible. When I first ate Sangam's food 15 years ago, it was the best curry you could buy in Stoke. It's been a while, but we ordered with family this evening. We wanted two tandoori chicken mains and bombay potato. Two chicken tikka mains turned up missing salad. When we call to enquire we're told that the person who phoned in the order asked for tandoori chicken and was asked if they wanted it on or off the bone. As I explained, obviously the person phoning in the order didn't know the right answer and unfortunately said 'off'. So then we're told that it's Sangam policy to ask this question and when the customer says off, they send chicken tikka. What rubbish. I know the difference between tandoori and tikka. If I had wanted tikka, I'd have asked for it. And at other time, when ordering curry with tandoor chicken off the bone, I don't expect to get a curry with chicken tikka in it instead. If this is their policy, why don't they point out to a customer what they'll get if they answer that question? Whenever I've order tandoori chicken from any other restaurant, that's what I get, no stupid questioning policy involved. That's what I wanted and what was ordered. So after much arguing on the phone and their attempt to patronise me, they agree to provide the right thing. When it finally arrives the rest of our food is of course stone cold.
At this point I wish I could say it was worth the wait, but it was absolutely the worst food I've ever eaten from any Indian restaurant or takeaway. A real shame because Sangam used to be amazing. Their prices have rocketed and their standards bombed. Now it's poor customer service and terrible, tasteless food; that will be the last time we ever order...
Read moreVery bland food, tasteless and poor customer service!
Ordered chicken tikka balti that was full of oil, tasted plain and chewy, and in thick paste like marinade. I asked the waiter to take it away and bring me something else and he refused to do so, stating that I must pay for even it first even if it tastes unpleasant.
The naan bread felt like a pizza base very thick and stodgy and they must have got carried away with the garlic, I couldn't taste anything else. Very disappointed especially after I waited more than 40mins for my main to come out. The waiters are very unhelpful, they were just hanging out by the bar engrossed in there own conversation, not a care in the world.
Will not be comming here again....
Read moreThis establishment presents itself as a quintessential Indian restaurant in the UK, yet it shares minimal resemblance to authentic Indian cuisine, with only the restaurant's name and menu providing any connection. The restaurant's setting and ambiance create a pleasant atmosphere, yet the flavor of the food proves to be disappointing. Entering with high expectations fueled by positive Google reviews and ratings turned out to be a regrettable decision. Nonetheless, the Mango Lassi stood out as a delightful exception. Perhaps this contrasting encounter stems from my distinct preferences as a South Indian. In any event, the overall experience starkly contradicted my initial...
