Disappointing. After a very long day I was looking forward to a late meal & drink. I ordered an Ultimate burger & chips - pretty much a sure thing, I thought. When it arrived, the cheese slice hadn't even started to melt. I thought it must have been just put together & ate some onion rings while I gave it time. When I turned to the burger the reason for the unmelted cheese became clear. It was cold. Not just a bit cool: stone cold. Everything between the buns was cold. You expect that of dill pickle & salad but not burgers & bacon. I called over the waitress, who apologised profusely & took it away. She returned a few minutes later. Burgers slightly less cold, bacon stone cold. Chips also now cold. I called her back immediately & insisted she feel the bacon & burgers herself. She apologised again & took it away.
She returned a few minutes later, assuring me that she had got the kitchen to redo everything from scratch.
It was barely acceptable but just about. I was by then - approaching 10.00pm - too tired to go on. It was also too late to go elsewhere. So when she asked if everything was all right, I said it was acceptable.
I had ordered a second drink, which duly arrived. I was drinking it when a young man approached me & asked if I would be ordering another drink as the bar would be closing soon. I checked my watch: it was 10.20pm; the bar opening hours were advertised as being till midnight. I told him that no, I would not be having another drink.
The impression I got was "how dare you complain about cold food".
I have usually found Wetherspoons reliable & value for money. When travelling somewhere unfamiliar, it's a comforting brand to find. This experience has somewhat undermined my confidence.
Was I offered any compensation - a free drink, maybe? Not so much as a new serving of onion rings when my meal was supposedly cooked anew.
Pretty disgraceful, imho. I shan't be...
Read moreVisited twice in a 2 day visit to Stratford - once with family and second time with my partner.
On the first visit on Tursday evening, my family had entered and sat while me and my partner waited in the queue outside to join them. Whilst in the queue, we were told by a member of staff to let a whole bunch of someone elses family in before us, despite being further back in the queue than us. This was mildly irritating as we were also meeting family but didnt think it was the norm to just push through to the front. When eating, unfortunately the children's menu was not on the app so we had to order his food separately at the bar to everyone else which meant his food was coming out separately to the rest of the family. Food was standard weatherspoons food, no complaints and the scampi was quite yummy! My partner had a mixed grill and cleaned the plate and my parents had the mangolorean curry and also saw it all off! :)
On the second visit on Wednesday evening, we did have to wait half an hour for our drinks to arrive. The food was also below normal quality. I had the beyond meat burger and the bun was just so hard it was inedible, my partner had the gammon which was also rock hard in some places. I think the food may have been left under the pass in the kitchen for quite a while as the food was luke warm and the chips weren't great. However when you're paying weatherspoons prices, it's hard to complain too much! We had a couple of cocktail pitchers which were quite nice though.
One huge assest to this pub - the small ginger girl working on the front door (and also running around doing a million other jobs in the pub). What a friendly, lovely and extremely pleasant and helpful young lady! Going above and beyond for everybody who walked through the door -...
Read moreWent in for breakfast, sat at a table that was sticky, so I got my wipes out and cleaned the table and it was dirty .. my husband had already ordered a traditional breakfast. My husband went to do the coffee at the machine and it was empty, so he went to the others in which were also empty. He told a member of staff and she said she would get it sorted. .she didn't . The bar wasn't busy at all . We hadn't had our breakfast yet so my husband asked for a refund and we will go elsewhere. She asked what was the problem and he told her, meanwhile there is a queue at the machines .. so she quickly got another member out to do so.. Then the breakfast came out .. sorry for the wait he said only we are busy... I didn't think so ..lots of empty tables about . He was holding plates of food with a cloth which was touching the food .. the plate wasn't even hot neither was the food .. . what he should of said was its been sitting on the side waiting for him to pick up... the only thing that was warm / hot was the little empty pack of butter ... the butter had melted and run out of packet ... yolk on egg was hard , sausage looked like it had been cut in half , half for me and the other half for my husband, beans cold ... just awful... We always use weatherspoons but may I say we will never use this bar in Stratford upon avon again.. on walking out there was another couple cleaning the table with their own wet wipes ... Clean the tables properly..... date we arrived monday...
