Aspen's Bar & Kitchen — Restaurant in Tamworth

This was, without a doubt, the most disrespectful and discriminatory experience I have ever had in any restaurant. From the moment we walked in, the service was appalling. Despite there being six staff members wandering around aimlessly, we were completely ignored for over 10 minutes. Not a single person brought us a menu or even acknowledged us. After 15 minutes of being treated like we were invisible, I had to physically stop a staff member, only to be rudely informed that food isn’t served until 11:30. How hard is it to let customers know this when they walk in? The lack of basic communication is astonishing.

If that wasn’t bad enough, I had to take a menu myself from the counter because no one could be bothered to bring one to our table. But what happened next was beyond unacceptable—it was outright discrimination. At around 11:15, a few white customers walked in, and the staff immediately greeted them, handed them menus, and took their drink orders. Meanwhile, we were left sitting there like we didn’t exist. The fact that we weren’t even approached until exactly 11:30, while others received prompt and welcoming service, was disgusting and blatantly racist.

The food? Mediocre at best—not nearly good enough to compensate for the complete lack of respect and professionalism from the staff. This restaurant is an embarrassment, and the treatment we received was nothing short of revolting. I would never set foot in this place again, and I strongly urge others to avoid it as well. We had the most amazing experience celebrating our engagement at Aspen's. From the moment we booked a table, the customer service was outstanding. Lilly, who assisted us with the booking process, went above and beyond to ensure that everything we wanted for our special occasion would be taken care of. She even made sure we had a dedicated area just for ourselves.

Lilly also spoke with the chef to ensure that they would prepare two meals for the kids with allergies. The chef was incredibly accommodating and prepared the meals separately, ensuring the safety and enjoyment of our little ones.

The food itself was exceptional. In our opinion, it is the best food you can find in Tamworth. Every dish was delicious, and the presentation was top-notch. We were truly impressed with the quality and taste of every bite.

On the day of our celebration, we were warmly greeted by Wendy, who made us feel welcome and congratulated us on our engagement. Throughout the entire meal, Wendy and her team, including Jamie and Vaclav, were attentive and made sure that all of our guests had everything they needed. The service at this place is horrendous every time we come here. When it's busy I can at least find an excuse and say they're understaffed or overwhelmed, however today the place was almost empty. We waited 5+ minutes, nobody came to give us the menus. It felt like the waiters were almost trying to ignore us, so maybe we will go away. Eventually, after looking at the waiter very intensely, he came over and asked us if we were ready to order. I told him since we didn't get the menus, we had to look at the menu online. Eventually we asked for the bill. 10 minutes later, the bill didn't come. We started getting ready to leave, and had to ask the waiter AGAIN for the bill. It seems he forgot all about it. Please bear in mind, this happened on a very slow day, with barely any tables occupied, and the service is extremely slow every time we come here. It's a long, nerve wracking process to get served, to get the bill, and basically to just have a dining experience. The waiters walk past you, getting themselves "busy" with other ridiculous stuff, when people are waiting to be served. I wouldn't come back, but unfortunately it's the only place where you can eat after coming out from the pool, and my daughter loves to go there after swimming. Otherwise wouldn't set foot...
