Gemini — Restaurant in Tamworth

Staying over night in the town. So this restaurant was conveniently near, which was its only saving grace. Four of us ate , all of us ordered starters and main meals with the intention of sharing all the dishes. First the starter meals came in dribs and drabs ended up having to remind them of one missing dish which arrived after we had eaten all the other dishes. We then had almost half an hour wait for the main dishes, which also got delivered to the table in the same fashion as the starters with 10 minutes spanning the time from first to last dish. We had told them it was are intention to share all the dishes but still they asked each time who order the dish as they brought it to the table. Asked for moist wipes after the starters had been eaten, as two of the dishes needed to be picked up with your hands to eat, but didn't receive any till after we had finished eating the whole meal. Leaving us the continue to eat the rest of the meal with sticky hands. I had the miss fortune of being the only member of the party to need the toilets, which at best where functional , with no working lock on the door, taps that rotated in the basin as you tried to turn them on and one solitary paper hand towel left to dry my hands on, which would leave the next visitor with nothing but toilet tissue. All in all the experience as a whole with food that at best looked like a warmed up supermarket meal and a WC that made me feel like washing my hands again, once I'd left them , I will not be returning anytime soon. Gemini in Tamworth, Staffordshire is by far the best Cantonese restaurant I have visited in the country. I have been coming here for over 20 years and have never been disappointed. It was a regular place me and my late partner visited, about once a month but since he passed away in 2016 I have not been able to go back as I couldn't face going without him. I finally did tonight and it was lovely that the manager, Michael, remembered us. I told him that my partner had died and he looked upset as he knew us so well. The service is fantastic there, and feels very personal when Michael is looking after you. And what can you say about the food... outstanding doesn't even cover it. We had a fantastic dining experience at Gemini in Tamworth. The food was fresh, flavourful, and beautifully presented. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, and the service stood out as genuinely warm and attentive. A special mention to the lady and gentleman at the bar, their friendly and welcoming attitude made us feel very welcome.
