Down In the Tamworth Area for a conference, decided to come here for friday dinner (20/04/2018) restaurant was easy to find in the town centre on the road coming up from the castle away from the river. Was seated very quickly, atmosphere is simply decorated but provides a nice atmosphere. Food was very tasty and presented nicely. For Starters I ordered a mix of bread and Olives with a dipping oil, the bread was served warm and crusty which was very good. The oil served had a nice fruity taste which went well with the warm bread. The olives were also very tasty. For Main course, I went for the meatballs served over spaghetti. The dish was served hot which was good, the sauce tasted nice and fresh with a good amount of chilli that gave it a nice warming flavor. This was followed by a dessert of a nice flavoursome waffle topped with delicious sharp juicy berries rounded out with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The service was very good and efficient with drinks being offered immediately upon seating, the starter was served within 10 minutes of the order being taken and there being only a three minute wait between the starter being cleared & main being served providing an efficient service. Dessert came out slightly slow due to a large party coming in that required a table cleaned quickly and was no fault of the staff themselves. Overall the entire experience was clean, efficient, filling & friendly.

We were visiting Drayton Manor and staying overnight and wanted some Italian. We found this place on Google and what a great find it was! We didn't have a reservation and in retrospect were lucky to get a free table because this place must be fully booked all the time. Can not fault it, very accommodating for our kids and probably the best service I have ever come across; the 3 waitresses were very attentive and friendly. The food was very prompt. My daughter knocked over my water and they cleared it up in seconds, replacing all the cutlery. The food was delicious and plentiful, my wife and I had the risotto and spaghetti bolognese and our son the bambino pizza, didn't get a chance to take a photo because we couldn't wait 😅. We shared the profiteroles (in the picture below) which was again delicious! Really great value for money too, 3 mains, desert and drinks for just over £50 (spent more in Pizza Hut last week). Thank you Portabello!

I doubted family run Traditional Italian Restaurants after experiencing so so quality food and samey options delivered by overly passionate staff. Portobello Restaurant has put my faith back in the Italian culinary experience. On entering I was met by grounded, accommodating staff that ensured I was happy with the choice of table. Staff were smiley, chatty and assisted joyfully with the menu options. I opted for some nibbles and their excellently priced 2 courses for £19.95. The atmosphere in Portobello Restaurant is relaxed, sociable and family oriented. The minimalist artistic interior beams with natural light. Dishes were superbly presented, quality was evidently high. The jelly babies and hand written “thank you” on the bill echoed the care they provide to their customers. A wonderful experience.

This restaurant is very small but the food is great the huge menu caters for all including those with dietary requirements. The pizzas are fresh and true Italian style! none of the thick deep pan bases,.perfectly thin and crispy.

The seafood menu is vast and so delicious I couldn't get enough, would love to go back again to try out more tasty dishes.

The only let down for our group was the accessibility for wheelchair users it felt like a huge obstacle course and slightly embarrassing.

Due to the step on entrance there was a ramp that was not the same height as the step this meant it was NOT a smooth surface. Wheelchair fornt cators were getting stuck on the ramp causing the wheelchair to slide back down the ramp onto the pavement. It was made even harder because of the rain the stone /marble step had become slippery the wheelchair wheels were not gaining any traction on the step as there was a slight incline to get to the entrance door. To gain entrance to this restaurant felt almost impossible, the fact that there was three wheelchair customers who were all struggling to get in made it slightly embarrassing.

This restaurant has customer toilets they are located through a door and up the stairs there is a disabled toilet through the same door, but it's also been used as a store cupboard to store high chairs. it's a very tight squeeze to access the disabled toilet. As the door of the toilet opens outwards there is not enough room between the door and wall to fit a wheelchair without getting stuck and trapping your fingers. Just make sure you are not desperate to use the toilet. It is like a cryptic puzzle to try and work out how you are going to get in and out with all your fingers.

If it's tasty Italian food you are looking for then this is the place to go! I would go back if the accessibility was less of an issue and...

My recent culinary adventure at Portobello unfolded with the delectable Fishcake, a masterpiece of culinary artistry. The crisp exterior gave way to a cloud-like softness within, each bite revealing a symphony of flavors that danced upon my palate. The delicate fish, perfectly seasoned and cooked to perfection, was complemented by a tangy tartar sauce that added a delightful contrast in taste.

Equally captivating was the Tagliatelle Marinara, a symphony of textures and flavors that transported me to the sun-kissed shores of Italy. The al dente pasta, cooked to the pinnacle of culinary perfection, provided the perfect canvas for the vibrant medley of seafood mingled harmoniously with the rich tomato sauce, creating an explosion of flavors that lingered long after the last bite.

The attentive service at Portobello further enhanced my dining experience. Every need was met with utmost care. Their genuine warmth and passion for Italian cuisine were evident in every interaction, making me feel as if I were a guest in their own home.

Whether you are a seasoned foodie or simply seeking an authentic taste of Italy, Portobello promises to exceed your expectations, leaving you with an indelible memory of...
