Bright beautiful ambient, atmospheric Indian restaurant. Lovely staff and beautiful présentation of food. Starters were nice, the rice too. However the accompanying dips were a taste of what was to come... Thin wet runny sauces in very small quantities. 3 main meals - A Butter Chicken... Sauce runny & excessively over sweet (drowning out chicken) making it inedible to eat once rice was finished. I had no 47...a chicken dish. If I was blind I would not have been able to tell you whether I was eating chicken or lamb! It was devoid of texture... Even tofu has more texture. So I was unfortunately eating a dish of sauce and basmati rice. My partner had a lamb dish (Kitta Mitta); the sauce was supposed to be thick but was thin and tasteless. Lamb was sparce and what was provided as meat, was tiny cuts, which included fat. In fact I thought the meat was confused as a light drizzle of herbs. Such was the quantity. The special pilau rice was no different than a regular pilau. But the icing on the cake was the Kemanan. We ordered 2 but couldn't even eat 1. I didn't know there was such thing as a bad nan (esp Kema) but clearly the Gods hadn't finished with us last night. 🙄 2 Kemanans: One had a pool of grease on the top (not mine so I thought 'no worries' ). Wrong on both counts... I have never tasted a meat bread that slid on your tongue like it was scum from a pond. It smelt rancid... Which should have been our second red flag... But fools tread where angels fear to, so we continued. We chewed and ate a mouthful each... I thought the sauce might help it down but no. We abandoned trying to eat it. Foul was an understatement. It was slimy so I can only liken it to pigs swill (as it was something I often fed to the pigs as a child) but then again, swill certainly smelt better to my nose (and the pigs) and going by the reception recieved by the pigs back then.. it was obviously better quality and a dish recieved, eaten with great relish, enthusiasm with no adverse affects afterwards- unlike our experience. I never thought it possible to have a bad kemanan but it's clear you can. I will now think twice on ordering Kemanan ANYWHERE which is a shame but given what happened to us.... Prudent. My daughter had a chapati which was fine but to be honest it really is hard to mess something like that up.
Thing is, we were staying overnight, it was late, we were in a hotel in the middle of know where and dying to eat, we love curry and starving. What could go wrong? We thought we would drive to Tamworth and get a lovely meal. Our optimism and hunger clearly blinding our better judgement once the food arrived. 😣
Blue water had fantastic reviews. It IS a lovely restaurant and I would love to give a good a review. If it was based on everything else we experienced and the food was just as good then 5*. The prices were good too. BUT ultimately we came to eat and this is ultimately about the food. Our meal was terrible not fit for human consumption. I dont believe it was quality meat served. Maybe we were unlucky. Fast forward 12+ hrs and its still costing us...

I highly recommend you book a table if you intend to visit this amazing restaurant, as it does get very busy. The staff are awesome, the food very authentic and amazing. There is plenty of choice including some old favourites on the menu. The restaurant itself is clean and modern and definitely worthy of a visit if you're in the area and are craving a good Indian. 5/5
I only wish we lived in the area as it definitely would become one of our regular places to eat but as we will only be going when we visit Birmingham or Tamworth I guess it makes it all that more special. It's definitely a hidden Gem, and we will come back and visit when we're back down there.
If you're unsure of where to eat though and looking for somewhere special but not expensive definitely give them a try. When we visited they were having an issue with their WiFi so couldn't take card payments so ensure you have some cash on you just in case lol, as we don't tend to carry cash we were searching our pockets for every penny for the bill, but there is a cash machine down the road if you don't (lol we found this after our visit there)But we feel bad cos we usually leave a large tip but couldn't on this occasion as we just managed to put together the bill, but we'll make it up to them on our next...
Read moreAVOID AVOID AVOID - So we ordered 2 meals a few weeks ago for delivery and had to chase them twice, on the 2nd occasional I was told that my order was missed by the kitchen. They apologised and said my food will be with me in 15 minutes, I waited another 30 minutes and called again as it still hadn't arrived. I was then promised a free order next time by way of apology and that my order had left and should be with me any time now. It did then arrive but this was now after waiting almost 3 hours from the point of order.
Today on Saturday 2nd April, we decided to take them up on the offer of a free meal and was greeted by someone saying they would never offer this and can only give me 50% off. I honestly wish I had asked for my money back from my first order now as I would not have accepted anything less. The only reason I didn't complain further or leave this review about the first order was because they were kind enough to offer a resolution of a free meal next time. As they have now negated on this offer they have lost a valued...
