Have visited on and off for a few years. Last two visits have been of a slightly lesser experience unfortunately. This was a favourite place of my Mum's, they do (or did) an amazing Malteser cheesecake, and if not eating in, I would often have a slice to take out if visiting the town centre. The staff allowed me to pay and I would collect my order after I'd finished shopping. I noticed on one of my last visits the chilled counter had been removed, so I queried at the till with the staff if they had any chilled puddings. The member of staff did not understand what I meant and had to go out the back to ask someone. There was a brief confused discussion by the sounds of it, the member of staff was sent back out still with a confused look on her face bless her. I re-phrased the question to asking for any chilled desserts, the member of staff re-asked out the back and the answer was no, however, they might be looking at updating the menu. On my last two visits I have had a jacket potato and both were slighty under cooked - you recognise the texture as being slightly harder to cut through, the spud wasn't fluffy!! I've since learned The Kitchen is under new management, so I get there will always be that sort of handover/adjusting period, so will be giving it a few more weeks before I return. Young staff who work there are friendly and enthusiastic, if not serving were always cleaning, remaining table contents were removed quickly after diners left. Wifi available. One large toilet on the premises, well kept and lovely and clean with lesser abled facilities, cafe all on one level. Also able to eat outside the front of the cafe if weather permits, and the front area is canopied. The Kitchen has its ' own designated parking area next to the premises, only for three cars I believe, but alternative (chargeable Mon-Sat up until 6pm) parking is only two minutes walk away. As such, the outdoor eating area faces a one-way traffic street, but it is not busy, so alfresco dining is still a...
Read moreReally disappointed. The only good thing was the iced coffee. The food is massively overpriced for what you get put infront of you. Whatever fat they used to cook the bacon and sausages in was burnt as the sausages and bacon were covered in black bits. I get they have busy periods but it took 25 minutes for mine and my other halves drink to come to the table. Another 25 minutes for food but what annoyed me is we ordered bacon and sausage sandwiches yet people who came in 10-15 minutes after us ordered fried breakfasts and received their food a while before ours. The tables were sticky and horrid to sit at. There were no napkins provided unless you had food you needed to use a knife and fork for. Sorry but people eating breakfast sandwiches need napkins too…. Don’t waste your time honestly the positive reviews must be one offs. Also the bacon had a funny smell I didn’t even eat it just took it out and gave to...
Read moreI have been here 3 times, first time the service was appalling, so I complained and was given a voucher.. which I used....(On that occasion couldn't do enough, I suspect it was the voucher) Left it several months and returned today... Beans on toast was thrown on the plate and beans dripped everywhere..(how can you get beans on toast wrong!!) The breakfast was served without toast...had to ask for it which arrived after prompting and breakfast almost finished....so I would be returning....there are many places in Tamworth who have good service and good food..give your hard earnt...
