Somehow managed to time our trip to this little gem on the same night as the Lidl Christmas quiz, which was great as we got to surreptitiously play along until they got to the Lidl specific questions about how much a single onion costs, at which point our attention returned to our cocktails. Anyway, the food: teriyaki chicken yakitori to start, which was really nice - three skewers of marinated chicken coated with white and black sesame seeds on a bed of red cabbage. Then onto the chicken katsu curry which you’ll find isn’t served in the usual panko breadcrumb style but is, I think, the buttermilk fried chicken off the rest of the menu. Purists may wail at the inclusion of chillies and coriander too, which was taking this in a slightly more Thai/Malaysian direction, but frankly I wasn’t complaining. Especially not after I tried the extremely strong ‘Zombie’ cocktail, which is served on fire in a glass shaped like a skull, like all the best cocktails are. After guzzling that I teetered off into the night a bit unsteady on my feet as someone with the Lidl lot smashed a glass to the usual cheers. Excellent gluten free options and friendly service, although I did have to go chasing down the bill - not ideal after you’ve just sunk a Zombie. Aside from that little quibble, top night. Never did find out how much a single onion...
Read moreAnything good about this business is eclipsed by their blatant disregard for their resident neighbours (who would all provide good custom if this place gave a toss about them). Loud music with open doors until midnight is regular and their karaoke night seems to have very few people who enjoy turning the microphone up to the max and singing nonstop. I saw a post on Facebook about this that was later removed and upon contacting the owner of the page they said that the owners of rock bottom had asked for it to be taken down, which speaks volumes about how much they want to hear both praise and constructive criticism and how much they care about their neighbours. As a side note I walk past this place almost every night and I have never seen it with more than 2 tables apart from when they are having these loud, boozy affairs which go well past their licensing time. Bring back the bronx, which served actual good food, drinks and were kind to...
Read moreAccording to my misses the Mac and cheese was the best she ever had!! Very big portions!! Not complaining!! The chips i ordered with cheese on and jesus were they cheesy! Very lovely chips! The garlic doughballs were a massive portion but very lovely too. The only gripe i had was the burger was wayyyy to over seasoned for my liking, all i could taste was salt!! The staff were friendly and polite!! I'd highly recommend that you try this place out!! Don't take the salt on burger comment just by my word as i'm not a huge fan of anything with salt on it unless its very minimal! Astonishing value for money only spend £45 on drinks and all that food ( and i mean the portions are huge ). I'll know for next time when i visit that i'll be asking them not to put to much salt on my burger. So give them a try highly suggest it just expect to get messy due to their...
