This place is fantastic, the pub downstairs is your standard town pub, but when you go upstairs to the restaurant, it's like a different world. The service for start- 5*, you cannot fault the manager Lemony, she's attentive and will do anything for you. Then the food...outstanding. we went on a sunday- which you would need to book well in advance, at least a few weeks. £21 a head and you get 4 courses. Vegetable soup to start, then you choose a starter- I had garlic mushrooms but there was pate and prawn cocktail and squid and a few other choices. Next is main, now it's a roast dinner as it's Sunday but you choose your meat. Beef, pork with crackling, both come with Yorkshire puddings. Chicken is in a red wine, bacon and porcini mushroom sauce- I was given 2 whole breasts of chicken cooked on the bone, so succulent and moist. There is a veggie and fish option as well. Then there's desert, a choice of about 8, I had chocolate brownie but there were crumbles and sundaes and bread and butter pudding. All looked fantastic. Afterwards tea and coffee is served. You will not be disappointed and if you ever are...Your taste buds don't work! There are 2 sittings, 1pm and 3.30pm. It will always be full so like I said before, book well in advance. It's a great place to go for a special occasion too, the view is of Viking bay beach so it is...

We made the mistake of eating in the 'restaurant' on our most recent visit sigh
Upon arrival we were quickly set upon for our food and drinks order which was a little uncomfortable. No sooner had we been presented with our bread/wine our rather large starter arrived. On finishing the starter our plates were promptly collected which is when we asked for a brief pause between courses. We were rather bruskly informed 'No, you need to remember next time you come. Chef is cooking' however, on taking our order the unusually fast American style service was not highlighted. We were clearly unhappy to receive our mains 3mins after finishing our starters but they were dumped on the table regardless. Not once during the evening were we asked about the food which was average, under seasoned and watery. I will concede the quality of the fish was good if little else. At the end of evening we were presented with our full bill without a single word or apology.
The staff are clearly in need of professional training and would not be hired at a more professional establishment.
A visit/mistake NEVER to repeated. Utter...
Read moreBooked a table here for my husband's birthday, on a very short visit to Broadstairs. The owner of the Aire B&B we were staying in recommended the Tartar Frigate, and it certainly didn't disappoint!! I spoke to Lemoni the day before to book a table, and when I told her it was a birthday meal she said she would reserve the best table, and it really was, in the corner with a fabulous view over the bay (table 11, btw! 😉) Our meals were absolutely delicious... I had chicken fillet with tarragon sauce, and my husband had salmon on pak choi with soy, ginger and chilli sauce. The portions of fish and meat were amazing, very generous. The veg and potatoes that came with was also fantastic, veg was beautifully cooked, not mushy. We were both so full after our meal that sadly we couldn't order pud 😢, but if we ever come back I will definitely be having a starter and pud instead!!! Lemoni was amazing, very attentive and was lovely to chat to, thanks again for the great table Lemoni !! ☺️ I recommend this restaurant without...
