Every now and then a bunch of us organise a night out and tonight was Tuk Tuk Thai Kitchen in Ramsgate. Thanet is blessed with lots of Thai restaurants, most are good and some are great. We've only been here once (tonight), first impressions go a long way and this place didn't let us down.
The food was great, I started with Fresh Rice Rolls - packed full of flavour and came with a super tasty sauce, I finished the plate.
For my main I had the Chili and Basil or sometimes called Holy Basil Stir Fry (a way cooler sounding name) with chicken, I had to add the fried egg and swapped out the regular rice for sticky rice.
I also ended up getting two Pink Boy Soya drinks over the evening, they tasted like the best strawberry milkshakes I've had in a long time - I have a dairy allergy and so don't get to enjoy milkshakes very often.
I wasn't going to have the pudding, sorry the dessert until the waitress we called over told us about the Mango Sticky Rice and convinced half the group to try some. I didn't manage to get a picture of it as it was so good, tasted like a very sweet rice pudding made with coconut milk and had a very nice mango sliced up on the side. I was very impressed.
The first waitress that came to us and took our food order was very polite, and easy to understand, we made it a little more challenging, well I did, by swapping out a couple of items. At the end she read the tables order back to us in the same order we gave it in, and all was good. I think her name was Mook (according to the bill), she got a good tip from us.
We will definitely come back either as a group or individually, and definitely recommend this place to others.
As an aside, if you don't like things too hot and spicy, ask your waiter / waitress and they can get the kitchen to adjust the heat...
Read moreOn our last day in Ramsgate we visited this lovely restaurant which looked very appealing from outside. Internally it's bright and spacious with a lovely relaxed atmosphere and view of the marina beyond. The food we ordered was varied and having our kids with us they had their own favourites including chicken Pad Thai and Chicken satay-both of which were delicious. My wife had grilled pork, papaya salad and dumplings and I had Pad See Ew which is a noodle based dish with pork. The food was all brought out together and was beautifully presented and really fragrant. The quality was outstanding too-its clear this is authentic Thai food cooked with real passion. I would wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant to anyone passing through-the lunch menu in particular looks really good value. An easy 5 stars-we will undoubtedly be...
