Ahoy there, fellow breakfast adventurers! π΄ββ οΈ Avocado toast enthusiasts, rejoice! π₯ Gail's Bakery is a curious nook in Altrincham town center that'll have you hooked and wanting to come back for more!
The avocado toast was the stuff of legends, sending my taste buds on a rollercoaster ride of delight! But wait, it gets better! π’ The secret weapon was the mysterious and alluring Salsa Verde sauce, served on the side like a daring sidekick ready to take on any culinary challenge! π₯
Speaking of challenges, I faced the flat white quest next. It was acceptable, though it lacked a bit of magic. Still, it played well with the avocado toast, so we'll call it a breakfast truce! β
Now, time to unravel the bagel enigma! π§ββοΈ The bagel, ceremoniously crowned with a luscious blend of Jam and butter, whispered sweet nothings into my taste receptors. Oh, how it charmed my senses! π
The space inside the bakery is a cozy hug; think of it as breakfast in a warm embrace! π€ However, if you prefer basking in the sunlight while munching on your treats, you'll have to roll the dice with the weather. π¦οΈ Outdoor seating is a fair-weather friend, but when it cooperates, it's a treat!
Attention parents, mini-humans are welcome here! π§π§ The vibe is kid-friendly, and it's a decent spot to enjoy breakfast with your little ones as long as it's not peak hour madness! π
To sum it all up, Gail's Bakery is like an enchanted breakfast nook that sprinkles a dash of quirkiness into your morning routine. Grab your avocado toast, dance with the Salsa Verda, and embark on a breakfast adventure! Just make sure to check the weather forecast before you set sail to claim the coveted outdoor seats! β΅...
Β Β Β Read moreSorry to do this but after a second failed visit I think the feedback is important. Heard so much hype about Gailβs, so went in with my baby for the first time for breakfast. Ordered jam on toast and the nut butter toast. I was given a baby seat which was broken so she fell straight out. It wasnβt obviously broken in fairness but it should have been checked. Then the jam on toast came out with burnt wedges of bread and butter that was rock hard and impossible to spread. I was trying to find parts that werenβt burnt to feed the baby but when I tried to spread the butter the toast fell apart. Fail. It took 20 minutes for the next load of toast to come out which again was burnt and so disappointing. By this time the baby had well had enough and it was time to make a dash not even attempting to eat it. Next to me was a woman who was still waiting for her jam on toast and after seeing me get served first, went and got a refund.
Still, I figured theyβre newly open and having teething issues so tried again this week. First thing in the morning so not busy and ordered the baked eggs on toast with bacon. I asked the eggs to be very well done. Eggs came with no bacon and raw! As in, not even sloppy white, clear slop raw. I returned and got a refund. Went to Gregβs instead! π«£
In fairness the FOH staff are so lovely, I think the kitchen team are letting them down. Genuinely think they need to shut for a few days and retrain until theyβre ready. Seem to be letting the brand...
Β Β Β Read moreThe almond chocolate croissant - oh....my...GOD! I can confidently & unashamedly say its the best patisserie I've ever had in any country. Re-crisped at home for my Saturday breakfast treat it is rich and heavenly. The delicious crunchy pastry layers, the heavenly/devilish thick layer of almond paste run through with chocolate, the generous sprinkling of toasted almonds in the top glaze - to think I almost said no to this ambrosial delight!! And HUGE - 150g of sheer weekend naughtiness (as a comparison most supermarket bakery pastries are around 75-85g - I know these things ππ)
The rest of the range at Gail's is inspired and broad. I had the most delicious squash & spinach savoury slice this week too; like a quiche without pastry - so tasty. My only comment is that is is a massive shame they cannot warm your food if you decide to eat in. I asked if the slice could be heated and got the amusing answer 'YOU can warm it at home but we cannot here', which made me smile (as I was in a good mood having just bought 3 pastries.) but was a shame cos the slice would have been delicious warm.
That's enough writing - treat yourself, get to Gail's and get a choc almond croissant to go and pop it in your air fryer / oven and make sure there is nothing but a cup of your favourite coffee to...
