I had a very unfortunate experience with Catherine the manager who was very rude and dismissive. I had a chicken burger that was very pink and definitely undercooked. She was rude, dismissive and very condescending. Catherine told me that she would have happily eaten it, looking at her - I believe she would have but I don’t think it would be a good choice. Please see picture - bear in mind this is breast meat not thigh, I checked.
I was told the chicken I had couldn’t be undercooked as they probe all of the food, I watched them make burger after burger without probing anything, I also know that the probe temps have to be recorded. I know for a fact this hasn’t happened.
Catherine the rude and dismissive manager flat out spoke over me and when I asked her if I could finish she informed me that I’d interrupted her - has it not been for her I’d have probably just left this but she was so irritating and rude, I felt I had to write this.
The reply below is inaccurate which the CCTV will show and if you also notice does not address the undercooked chicken burger or the very poor service. To confirm, the rest of the staff were fantastic - I wasn’t rude to the deputy manager but he wasn’t sure how to do the refund so I walked over and asked Catherine “why due to the severity of the situation was I not dealing with her” she was immediately combative. If I had have been so rude and intimidating I’d have been asked to leave - I was not and security was also not informed nor were they called - this is a desperate and transparent attempt at saving face, it was just Catherine (who I’m certain wrote the reply) has proven herself to be as I’ve stated above, quite repulsive - absolutely unapologetic of the poor service they have provided. You would hope that in a situation where a pandemic is happening they’d be more careful - cross contamination and a severe lack of health and safety is inexcusable and in those situations you can only blame the manager, Catherine for that not being done. I can confirm that I do in fact have food poisoning from the burger and I am in contact with GBK HEAD OFFICE.
Banning someone from a place where they have been given food poisoning and bad service seems redundant. I wasn’t planning on returning - you have an...
Read moreEating at Gourmet Burger Kitchen was a strange mix of well prepared, albeit a bit pricey food, served by staff that could easily replace the Vogons in the popular series of books by Douglas Adams, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
After spending some time at the Trafford centre, we decided to get some food at the GBK, which we've not tried before. As the time was around 19:30, we didn't expect it to be very busy. On approach, we were, however met with a strangely long queue. I optimistically noticed that half the tables were empty, so the queue would surely move quickly. However, upon seeing a employee with a facial expression of someone who isn't paid nearly enough to be doing this kind of work approach at a frustratingly slow pace, that optimism quickly faded to annoyance. It took about half an hour to be seated at a table that I noticed was empty when we arrived. Yikes!
As we received the menu, I quickly noticed one thing. While the burgers were reasonably priced by themselves, they included nothing else. Chips had to be ordered separately at a steep price. As the burgers weren't noticeably sizable, the chips were definitely a must to leave the premise without a remaining hunger. Yikes!
My partner noticed a list of specialty sauces on the menu, and one caught their eye. Note that these sauces were specifically mentioned to be for the burger, and were assumed to be on the burger, as it did not state otherwise. As the burgers were placed before us, my partner couldn't quite notice the sauce and assumed it mustn't be very strong. After eating most of their burger and lifting their drink, they noticed a small tub of sauce had been placed neatly out of sight behind their drink. Luckily we had some chips left to dip in the sauce, but this experience was yet again more frustrating than it should realistically have been. Yikes!
Sadly, I do not think we will be...
Read morePossibly one of the worst dine in service i’ve ever had. Firstly we asked if we could get a table of 4 and they said they don’t have any available, despite seeing at least 5 empty tables of 4 so then we decided to sit on 2 separate tables at other ends of the restaurant. A table of 4 was leaving and when they left we asked the waiter again if we could have the table and the waiter spoke to us in a very rude way and declined us a table of 4 because “there’s a family of 3 waiting for a table” despite there being 5 other tables of 4 free.
(next part of the review: speaking for 2 people as we got separated from our friends)
Obviously agitated at the situation, we were never told that we had to order on the app or go up to the bar so we sat for 15 minutes waiting for someone to come over. Eventually we asked someone and they told us how to order. At 2pm we ordered 2 burgers and for 1 not to have tomato or house relish, fries, onion rings, juice and a lemonade. After waiting 20 minutes our drinks came at 2:20pm a glass of lemonade and a little juice box??!….TWENTY MINUTES for a juice box and lemonade!! Not only did we then wait an extra 30 minutes for the food they messed up our order twice!! first time one of the burgers had no tomato but had relish on so we asked if they could change it and then when the woman brought it back the second time there was tomato on it but luckily no relish. We were fed up at this point and just took the tomato off ourselves but it had not been a great experience! Usually at other restaurants they ask if we want any condiments and salt is usually on the table, however after giving us our food the waiter just left us and we were left figuring out how we get some salt and mayonnaise. I walk to where the entrance was and had to DIY and get my own condiments!!
The food was awful and the burger was so dry WORST...
