NEVER EVER VISIT the swinging bridge near the trafford centre, manchester. We booked a table three weeks ago and when we got there we were told there was no way we could have booked (even though we had confirmation in a text message with a booking number) and the so called manager was so incredibly rude and had such a bad attitude that even if he had attempted to resolve the problem we would not have wanted to spend our money there!! After talking over the top of us and telling us there was no way we could have booked I tried to show him my booking confirmation and in his rude tone he said "hey don't go shoving that at me" and as I tried to explain most calmly and politely that I just wished to show him that we did indeed book, he continued to talk over me and as he did his bad attitude got worse. I said that I felt there was no need for the fuss he had made when I simply wanted to show him that we had booked and he told me to 'go eat somewhere else' so I said I would. I also said I would be reviewing him on google, facebook, twitter, trip advisor etc etc etc and I asked for his name so I could make a formal complaint. He told me his name was Bill Smith, no idea if this is his real name but it is the one he gave. On reflection perhaps he purposefully aimed to annoy my party and I to the point of us deciding to go to another restaurant because it was easier for him, it being mothers day and given our problems with booking perhaps he had encountered others that day and was simply taking care of it in an effective but most inappropriate way. In any case it was strange that he came on strong with this highly negative attitude from the moment we said we had a booking confirmation and he had no record of it. I am incredibly unhappy that having booked three weeks in advance and the establishment having no record and I am even more unhappy that my family and I then had to be subjected to this behaviour on such a special day (mothers day and my birthday). I have worked as a manager myself, dealing with public relations and I have never been anything less that polite and understanding. This man did not even offer any kind of apology for either the booking problem or his bad attitude. Read moreI would like to praise Panos for his amazing service he greeted us beautifully, gave us fantastic service and helped us with everything we needed. He is the reason for the amount of stars and I would say his service is 5 out of 5!!
However, we decided to stop by at the swinging Bridge restaurant because of the huge sign outside the main door stating 2x main meals for £8.99 which enticed us in. I have photos of these if you require as when we was given the bill it came to almost £80.00 When the manager was questioned he laughed it off and said your handyman isn't working. Unfortunately I feel this is false advertising and we should have been told about any expired discounts especially if they are in main view of guests. I feel like the manager just disregarded this and didn't even offer any discount to rectify this issue, this felt like it was very unfair and a bit of a trick to your customers.
I suggest you find a different handy man to remove this sign so that others do not get caught in the same misleading trap.

Read moreSo the staff were lovely. However when we went to order I told them I had a garlic intolerance (not an allergy). Initially they were great and came over with ingredients list and packets from kitchen. We went through various ideas and all came back as having garlic. So I eventually decided on halloumi salad no dressing and a bowl of fries!
Then after ordering that they came out again and said "the chefs are not happy to serve you any food as they don't want to risk it"
Now I understand with recent pret deat etc that they are extra cautious but I have an intolerance (makes me sick) not an allergy where it would kill me.
I guess my biggest gripe is, why didn't they said that they were not willing to cook for me right at the start!! So annoying and ridiculous. Man who served us said that 95% of their food has garlic in or on it.
HOWEVER, I and already had onion rings and stayed alive. Total joke. Staff are friendly but rules utterly ridiculous!!!
Avoid totally if your allergic or intolerant to anything!!
