It was not the most welcoming place I've ever eaten, but the food was tasty, and plenty of it. Apart from the soup. The service was good. We didn't have to wait too long for the food. I didn't get a chance to take photos of the food because we were hungry, so it vanished quite quickly! The burrito was hot and well filled, the loaded fries with pulled pork was fabulous, apparently, and some of the best loaded fries that my adult son had ever eaten. The soup, however, was a major disappointment, I had the soup of the day, which was tomato and pesto. It was like someone had opened a tin of chopped tomatoes and thrown a big dollop of pesto in it. It was bland, tasted of tinned tomato, and the accompanying bread with it was just a generic medium slice of white bread with thick margarine on it. It was not even a whole slice. It was half! It's not worth the money. Other than the soup, the food filled a hunger gap and was good ...
Read moreWould not step foot in AJs again. It was a busy day, but no excuse for a 20 min wait for drinks, a 40 min chase up for our food which resulted in someone else's cold food being served to my partner with 2 items missing...10 mins after I had my slapped together cold bacon, untoasted crumpets with plastic cheese slice and a pot of congealed sauce. I asked for refund, saying they'd made an error as no avocado either. I went out for quick fix as I was so hungry by then and apparently the same plate was brought back out with half an avo on the side. Awful. During our wait, the young server was called out by a customer for putting floor-dropped ice back into the bag for use. She made no apology or attempt at making this right, she looked blank as though it was normal. My advice for AJs managerial team is to review staff as you have such a lovely venue, but let...
Read moreIf you're looking to sample something different than the usual café fare, then you should try this place. There is more seating out of sight, so don't be put off by the size of the café. AJ's offers much more than what the name advertises, including a range of breakfast & lunch delights, so you'll be spoilt for choice. We called in during the afternoon, looking for some tasty treats for my daughter's birthday. Choosing between crepes or waffles though, was not an easy decision to make as everything on the menu sounded so lush. There were 4 of us & 3 opted for waffles. Although they were all delicious, my only bug bare was, at nearly £6 a waffle, I found them a tad expensive. I like to get my money's worth & didn't feel that this time I had. I do recommend you try for yourself though, maybe you'll think...
