Nestled in Brecon town centre. This lovely ambient place did not disappoint after a lovely long walk around the Beacons. I had 5 others with me today and whilst we hadn't booked we walked in at about 12.20 thinking we would end up in a local cafe and were surprised to have a great table in the restaurant. Ambience was lovely with a fire blazing a Christmas tree twinkling. We had a sharing starter, soup and garlic mushrooms between us. It was lovely. We then had 3 sharing lunches which was perfect for my party of 6. Turkey, beef and pork with plenty of stuffing, yorkshire pud, roast potatoes and veg. This restaurant would have scored a 5, which for a chain restaurant, I think is super. Marked a 4 as my son was disappointed that there was no peas, parsnip or swede. There was however plenty of carrot and broccoli served with the dish. Would recommend you order an extra gravy boat if you try this sharing dish. Total bill for 6 including drinks and all food was 85 pounds. Service was friendly too. If anyone considers dress code when in Brecon, which I dont think any eatery there does. We rocked up in our hiking gear and were made very welcome so no need to change before dining. Would recommend this one if your in the beautiful Brecon area.

We had Sunday lunch here lovely building staff friendly but the food was dire my lamb leg was two very small (playing card size at best) extremely thin pieces of tough reheated meat my wife's beef was the same the rest on the plate wasn't much better either 3 small roast potatoes a very hard wedge of stuffing i could not cut it, a large Yorkshire pud looked good but tasted strange and the veg was a meager portion of very watery shreaded red cabbage, a half a leaf of green cabbage chopped up, and a single carrot cut into rounds, we also ordered the cauliflower and leek gratin that was a good portion but it was covered in a bright orange cheese sauce definitely a packet mix šŸ¤” This was not a cheap meal Ā£11 for the lamb dinner Ā£10 for the beef and a pint of lager costing Ā£5.50 if your charging fair money have the decency to provide a fair meal with some better quality ingredients cooked with some skill and care we left very disappointed with a Sunday lunch in a lovely building with friendly staff in a beautiful place the food is a massive let down

The interior decor is a bit shabby, but nothing to draw your eye too. When we sat down the waitress told us food would be 30 minutes, which wasn’t an issue at all.

We could order at the bar or via the QR code. We chose the qr code. Then the waiting began. 30 minutes before the DRINK arrived. I use the singular deliberately here, we were a table of four and only one turned up, 10 minites went by and i went to the bar to ask about the other three. The bar had a huge queue where you could see other customers were getting visibly agitated by their wait and the food wait time was now over an hour. I found a waitress and asked her to chase the other three drinks. She told me the barmaid was in the middle of my drinks. I sat down. 5 Minutes later, another DRINK arrived. We are now 40-50 minutes into our wait, and one roast dinner arrived. We asked again for our drinks, after another 5 minutes a man came out to ask what we ordered, and accused us of ording stuff they didn’t sell... Which is hard to do on an app that is a tick box system. He was extremely rude suggesting we had ordered from a different pub, i pointed out that the order went to your till and you were holding the order, so how can we have ordered to the wrong pub, he continued to be rude and at no point apologetic for the strange occurrence. This in of itself would be enough to leave a bad review, but then we received the other three dinners one at a time several minutes apart, and we still had to ask again for the drinks that the rude man didn’t make.

A very lovely young lady 18 if a day came to the table, very pleasant, and explained someone else had forgotten but she would make it now and she did. It is a sad state of afairs when you immediately think you need to promote this young lady to front of...

Booked a lunchtime meal for six people. Upon arrival we was greeted by a lovely young lady who sat us in the back dining are due to us having two dogs with us. This was fine as it was a nice seating area and very quiet. We ordered food at the bar as instructed. We were two families of three so each family ordered one after the other. Some of our choices were not available so we had to decide on alternative options. The young man serving at the bar was pleasant. We ordered a couple of starters which came fairly quickly. Soon after three meals arrived two of which were for one of or family group and one for the other family group. The food was lovely. We waited and waited for the rest of the meals to arrive and by the time some meals were finished we were still waiting for the outstanding meals. When mentioning at the bar that we were still waiting they said it was because the meals were on two separate tickets. Eventually the rest of the meals arrive apart from one. When mentioned to the bar that a meal was missing they sent over the manager. She came flying over with a very stroppy attitude explains that it was because the meals were on two tickets. We politely explained yes but we had some meals from one ticket and some meals from another ticket and we expected we wanted to eat as a group as we're ordered one after another. Unfortunately this fell in deaf ears and she was very unapologetic. We still had one meal outstanding and was told it wasn't on the order. She stroppily asked if we still wanted it!! We said yes as he was hungry. She then marched off. We all just sat in shock. All we expected was a ' sorry ' we can sort this . The whole meal was ruined by her attitude and no apology. Such a shame as the food was good but the service and her attitude...

Upon arrival, the customer service seemed promising. However, things quickly took a turn. It took a good 10-15 minutes for our simple order of three regular cokes to arrive. When the drinks didn't show up, I had to make my way back to the bar to remind the staff, but there were no apologies offered. Interestingly, I overheard a couple at the bar who were staying overnight at the restaurant's accommodations. They were granted a full refund for their week-long stay. It was surprising to witness such a resolution while I was waiting for our drinks.

The waiting game continued as we ordered our food. Our starters took a staggering 45 minutes to arrive, despite the restaurant being relatively quiet with only a few other tables occupied. Patience wearing thin, we eagerly anticipated our mains, only to be met with disappointment.

My chicken pie, accompanied by mash and vegetables, was nothing short of a letdown. The pie itself was rock solid. The microwaved and cold mash further added to the disappointment. I ended up only eating the vegetables. Meanwhile, my partner ordered a steak cooked to medium-rare, but it arrived lacking the desired juiciness. To top it off, my mom's supposed chicken salad turned out to be nothing more than a plate of chicken and lettuce.

Considering the prices we paid, £15 for mine and my mother's dishes and £26 for my partner's, the overall experience was far from satisfactory. The restaurant appeared to be understaffed, and the lack of apologies for the delays and the food only added to our disappointment. While they did remove the cost of two meals from our bill, it hardly compensated for the overall experience.

I would not recommend this restaurant....
